I actually obsess about both. I go through periods where I read and watch programs on whatever my current interest is at the time (mummies, Nazis, beginnings of religions, Astronomy, etc.). I also will obsess on art or photography (angels in graveyards, gargoyles, buildings, etc). I even do things like watch the same genre of movies over and over pulling out every single detail until I feel I know the entire thing. I used to be able to read books and watch movies for enjoyment, but it seems as though the classes I took as an undergrad and grad student started my mind looking too closely at the details. Now, I see the details and make all sorts of notes about the associations or mechanics of it, but I lose appreciation for the overall story in the process. That can be annoying.

SAME HERE! Earlier at least... If I was exposed to an opportunity to learn something I thought worthwhile, or an item that required special knowledge, I would get that knowledge. I wish I could live to 200 and be just as good, just so I could try to make use of it all.

My primary obsessions/interests have been in the academic and fact-gathering realms. I also have musical interests and I love cats. I like to read about cats, classify them according to breed and, of course, I have always had cats in my life.

I've always been obssessed with antique/classic/sportscars. I suppose it's a visual thing, they have a unique 'look'. That's probably what got me interested as a child. Now though, I enjoy reading about every detail of every Ferrari ever made ....
