Hypnotism and suggestion

Just wondered if hypnosis or suggestion either therapeutic or for entertainment would work with people with autism.
Has anyone used hypnosis to give up smoking for example? Or taken part in a stage hypnosis show?

Hypnotism is real for a few persons (not everyone) and does work for a few persons (like for a few persons for smoking - not all persons for smoking).
That's my understanding.
At the same time, hypnotism does not work for neurological challenges such as epilepsy or ADHD.
Emile Coue and Jose Silva have written some interesting, insightful books about hypnosis/suggestion in general. It is believed that some non-profit religions use hypnosis/hypnosis techniques/repeated spiritual suggestions regularly but do not share that fact with their congregations but rather hide what they do behind theological language.
Years ago, attended a live Michael Dean hypnotism show in San Diego.
While I participated in the show only as an audience member, it was a very real show and I do remember seeing an audience member volunteer to go up on stage and be hypnotized for about ten minutes. The audience member was a real person, not a plant, and I was most suprised by what I saw on stage which clearly was very similar to responses which Paul McKenna has brought out in his public TV shows about hypnotism.
My personal view on hypnotism is that it is real for a few persons (not everyone) but I do not either support it or not support it. I have found books written by Emile Coue to be candid and good (not a cure) on the topic of hypnosis/autosuggestion. Again, it's real for a few persons.
