Thanks, Waterfalls, I will try. He can be really fun but I've been hurt by him so much that I'm wary of interacting with him. Suggesting that he consider therapy would obviously go over like a ton of bricks--him being a psychologist and me his little sister--so I don't think that's much of an option.

In response to the OP.....

The problem that I have found with soooo MANY doctors----ALL kinds, but not ALL doctors----is that no.1, they often suffer from a "God Complex". They think they know-it-all, no.2, because they've studied for so many years.

Well, guess what *I* always say.....

"Life ain't IN a book", no.1; and, no.2, "If non-fiction books were all-facts-all-the-time, man would not have had to invent the term 'revised edition'"! !

Then, given the fact that you said he's insecure..... See, sooooo MANY people feel that education is the "be all / end-all"----he thinks, it seems, that his education "validates" him. Well, he'd have a RUDE awakening if he read this thread----cuz, it seems, NOBODY here has 100% faith, in a doctor. Education can't "make" a person----it can ENHANCE a person's brain----but, not make a person "good", for instance.

Then..... The fact that you're YOUNGER, makes him believe (as my older sisters do) that he's, like, "King of the World", or something----that everything is OWED him, because he was born BEFORE you!! Well, just as with my older sisters, birthright, does NOT mean "brain-right"----if ya know what I mean!! Age, IMO, has NOTHING to do with "smarts" / intelligence / whatever!! I've seen people who were 17, 18, 19 years old, with a VERY good head on their shoulders----and, I've met 50 / 60-year olds, with not a brain in their ENTIRE body!!

Also, you're a FEMALE----and, as much as I'd like to believe it no longer exists, the fact IS there's still ALOT of people who view females, as the "weaker" / "lesser" sex.

Then, given the fact that you feel he might be narcissistic----oh, geez, I don't EVEN want to open this can of worms, AGAIN, this week----but..... All bets are OFF, with those people, IMO----I'm dealing with it, myself..... Yep, you guessed it----my older sisters!!

IMO, stick with the advice / diagnosis, that you got----there's a REASON it's unethical for a doctor to treat his own kin!!

I'd love to have a psychologist in my family, so he could diagnose me with AS

I managed to get a really good deal on my diagnosis from a lady who had been out of town for a while and didn't get much of a client base yet. Since I was a poor grad student she did it for ~$300. Sure my brother probably had the credentials to diagnose me but he has only worked with a few people on the spectrum and you generally want to go to someone with more experience. Also, family members have a hard time being impartial. I do wish it was easier and more affordable to get a diagnosis. Sorry about your situation.
