SonicallySensitive, my status has changed in that I have joined the moderation team actually. Be assured that I will leave any moderation of any of your posts in the future to others, should the need ever arise, on the assumption that this would be your preference too.

No one is asking you to be less autistic. It would be great if you could be less of a jerk though -- if possible. If not, okay. I know plenty who can't help being abrasive and thrive on conflict. I'm not writing a scientific paper. I am typing from experience. I only need to prove my points if I were writing for a journal. Since this is a forum, I don't need to say something that is true for every case. I just need to say things that are true for me. Definitive statements are fine for a common level discussion. Most reasonable people will know the statements don't apply in all cases. You can be autistic and reasonable at the same time. Of course, that is just my experience -- this may not be true for you.

I appreciate the understanding from other posters. My experiences are not uncommon, which prompted my post. I say that because of hindsight. I remember other girls growing up treated bad due to their sensitivities and their attempts to solve their problem being thwarted by the adults. One girl across the street from where I lived held her hands under her shirt under her armpits often. I think she was trying not to stem. Her mother would hit her when she moved her hands in a weird way. I think her problem solving idea was to trap her hands to obey her mother, but that got her in trouble also. I remember thinking, she is in trouble like me a lot; everything we do is wrong.

I would have just added a reply to the other existing treads that talk about female autism, but my initial search stalled out and couldn't find the related threads until after I created this one. Maybe those will be better suited to read than this one. It has become something unintended.

If I can please jump back to the original post?

As an Aspie mom to an Aspie daughter, I can tell you that awareness of the problem exists and is growing. For one thing it helps that there are now far more women evaluators (although many still seem to be affected by institutional bias &/or faulty criteria for diagnosis). And, helping to push awareness there is a growing subculture. I'd highly recommend googling "Aspergirls" and following everywhere it leads you.

I'm indifferent, so it isn't my preference.

However I encourage impartial moderating - as opposed to your reactions to my posts thus far.

If you do wish to get the ball rolling on this matter - show me my 'hostile' and troublesome posts.

I cast your attention to the following ad hominems - in this very thread - which I'm sure you'll respond to accordingly, given your status as a mod, and given my own posts have in no way been personal, but once again, have addressed the issue at hand:

I've been called a jerk here - this is against site policy. I'm sure you'll deal with it accordingly:

I am unclear on what the point of this thread is. Perhaps someone could clue me in before it gets locked by a mod?

Same here. At the moment it's an argument.

On the topic of female autism, WP has an entire subforum for it. I'm pretty sure there's far more similarities than differences between females and males with autism.
