I love going to the movies. I last went to see Everest and was excited for days/weeks ahead of actually going.

And the food at my local theatres is very good, I can even order things like pizza, nachos, burgers and fries.

My hearing isn't sensitive at all (if anything I'm closer to being deaf) so if it's loud, I don't notice.

But I won't watch horror or thriller movies at all because they scare me and I get nightmares very easily from things I've read, watched or dealt with in real life. Sometimes even a commercial for a horror movie can turn into a nightmare.

My next movie will be next weekend. The local brand of theatres is putting on a charity day with about 4 older movies that are child/family friendly, one being Despicable Me 2. I think the Minions are SO cute :D . It's free to get in and popcorn, drinks and snacks are $2.

My hearing is horrible! I have moderate sensory issues. Imagine if my hearing was better.

At my theater I can also get pizza, poutine, hamburger's, French fries, ice cream etc. One has to buy it from the movie theater canteen. One is not allowed to bring food from places outside the theater, but that doesn't stop many from smuggling.

I smuggle food in too. Drinks (they sell pop, juice and water. Well, I want milk, $%&# it! ) and my candy (which is up to $4 and $5 at the theatre) or sometimes cookies from my favorite cookie shop.

At least they don't go through all your stuff looking for smuggled food.

They have the signs up (and the ones about filming the movie in order to pirate it), but it's just like with the public transportation about riding without paying and no smoking on transit property, everyone does what they want, regardless of the signs. *shrugs* It's not like it's the only rule I break, I frequently ride transit without paying because my government doesn't care about low income individuals getting around with dignity. They don't want to give me enough for a full bus pass/give me the bus pass outright, so I don't use my precious food/movies money to fund their transit system.

I've always went to the movies during my drinking days, that is, for the past 35 years. I haven't been to a cinema in my new sober adult life so it'd be interesting to se if I can stand the volume, the crowds, etc.

After seeing Star Wars 67 times when it was first released...I've seen perhaps 10-15 movies in the theater since.
Reasons:
- crowds
- smells
- dark + bright screen flicker = blech
- auditory processing delay
- headaches from the chairs
- high volume causes my ears to 'blink'
- too many explosions, not enough good writing
- kids might be running across my lawn & I need to go yell at them.

Okay, the last one was not real, but writing this list made me feel *old*...

I find the newer cinemas to be too loud. The sound system is too strong. I like going to this old run down theatre downtown where there is hardly anyone there and I don't have to feel blasted out of my seat by 10,000 watt sound systems. I like to sit in the back as far away from the screen as possible.

I enjoy action films but have a hard time following movies with plots that involve complex social situations. I find myself asking so many questions because I misunderstand the characters' intentions and reading between the lines.

I have trouble with people eating popcorn loudly (or at least that's my perception) at the movies. I usually have to change seats to escape the noise and people think I am being rude. The other thing that distracts me are cell phones being on or someone kicking or bumping my chair. Also, I can't tune out people talking or whispering during a movie.

I enjoy streaming movies because I can pause them and come and go as I please. There are fewer distractions for me as well.

I do like a good drive-in movie experience, though. That's a cool way to see a film if you have the chance.

Do you mean frame rate? I can second that, 24 frames per second gives me motion sickness.

Most theaters now use digital projection instead of film. So that 24Hz flicker that is associated with film is no longer there. Even if the movie was shot as 24 fps. It does not flicker on a digital projection system.

For some reason, I really, really enjoy going to the movies.
It's my favorite thing to do with other people. It's a way to hang out without too much direct interaction.

It has a lot of things I dislike in general. For example:
- The theater itself is too huge and makes me upset so I sit by the stairs, walls, or back.
- The movies can be too loud and there's (usually) no subtitles so I miss out on bits of dialogue.
- The crowds can be awful, so I usually just see a matinee, and once the movie's done, I'm out!
- The popcorn, while usually delicious (in the moist, butter-smothered, disgusting kind of way), always gives me heartburn. (I subconsciously eat/chew nonstop during movies, so it's either food or my fingers). Hmm...I guess I could just not get the popcorn...but...

Most of it seems like it would be kinda cruddy. But, once the lights turn off, I find I'm isolated - it becomes just me and the movie.

It makes me a little anxious, being in close proximity with so many people. But if it's a movie I can really get into I don't mind

I like it for certain movies. Like I will want to see the new Star Wars movie on the big screen. I always have my ear phones on though, using them as earmuffs.

Sometimes I enjoy the cinema, that is when I'm able to show up at an early time when there is not many people around which, to me makes it much better.

I love going to see college film screenings, art house films, foreign films, period films, that sort of thing. Anything that is offbeat and not likely to have much of a crowd. I will drive a long way for a free screening if it's something that I really want to see.

On the other hand I do NOT like going to see a mainstream movie in a regular theater. It's an assault on my senses and makes me feel sick. Last time I went to one felt like I had been on a roller coaster for 2 hours. :eew:
