I've felt like this. Like, you hear their opinion of you so often that it becomes even more concrete and you kind of just...revert to this version of yourself that your family expects of you.

It is a confusing suggestion when you do not know yourself. The pressure to conform has increased due to economic uncertainty and the trend towereds group. The problem is particularly acute for autistics who get punished so often when they are themselves many desperatly try to be "normal" 24/7 and disassociation sets in.
