I get a headache from it and I just generally feel unwell. Unless it's something like a concert where I'm actually willingly submitting myself to loud noise.

Not really. I just get highly irritated by loud sounds, mostly toddlers and motorcycles.

I will say that it makes my heart beat faster and that tires me out like if I was walking uphill.

It exhausts me to the point where I'd just like to take a nap. overstimulation is tiring in general.

Do you feel mentally tired after being exposed to loud sounds for more than about ten minutes? For me, it just drains my mental energy, although I don't know why. Any thoughts are welcome.

Yup - completely. I cannot cope with loud sound for any extended period of time. I get to the point where I just start to cry and lose control. I find this aspect of ASD at least as difficult as my communication difficulties. It';s just completely disabling.

I'm exhausted by prolonged exposure to all types of sensory stimuli that I find painful/overwhelming, because it's so stressful. Stress is exhausting.
