Most awkward moment that has arisen because of ASD?

Same. (Though I really do prefer solitude, and am happier since I stopped trying to 'act NT'.)

I like the solitude because it is the only time I'm not on my toes about something. I have no trouble with solitude because I can keep myself busy.

But, I really do want to be able to go and do the things other people do and take for granted. For instance, I'd love to go see Deadpool. Big screen, see all the eye candy easily. But with the modern audio systems and the crowds with a complete lack of manners with all the talking, phones lighting up and general sensory overloads, it's just not fun.

My favorite go to movies time? The old days of the drive-ins. You were in your car (Parents car...I was driving with dates in HS at the time they were being phased out.), you could actually BBQ in your 'space' where you parked, it was different.

But, my solitude right now is just being beat down to the point, I no longer wish to beat my head on that social wall anymore.

I only like movies in theaters when no one is there I go when nobody else wants to, and there are maybe 5-6 people in the entire audience. It is really so much more enjoyable.

I can "gear myself up" for the loudness of the film, for its duration. But I can't stand the distractions of the other people, no matter what.

But, you missed that era of the drive ins. Really cool. And, as I got old enough to date and drive, it was the best place to go making out. Could bring your own food, privacy, lousy sound in the 60's, but eventually, you could literally tune your car radio to the movie being broadcast, so that helped.

sigh...the 'good old days'.....but I would never redo them!! LOL More fun in the memory where I can cherry pick the good times over the bad times.

Here are a few from the "top 10" list.

A. An MC saying after my act in my early days of comedy ____ finds doing comedy cheaper than psychotherapy
B. A visually handicapped student asked me for directions. I didn't know the area and I "unfilterly" said I could, but it would be like the blind leading the blind
C. Going into a room to lead a loss/grief group. Someone must have left a dirty gym bag in the room over break. My brain is very certain smell sensitive. Again I "unfilterly"said " It smells like something died in here. Luckily the students knew my quirkiness and laughed and we started.

I thought that was ALL comedians. And I am being serious.

I'm sorry, I don't understand......

Thinking back on it, it was probably more like 3-5 people trying to help and everyone else in the area basically pausing to see what was going on. Felt like I had a million eyes on me though. My mom was there almost immediately but it seemed like forever.

Ohhhhh....duhhhhhh.....it really astounds me how much I just do not get....thanks for explaining.

One of my top 20 awkward events is when I miss things "most people" find easy. Some used to think I was acting.

Although I do some of my best acting far from stage, these moments are real.

My entire life. I'm always setting new awkwardness standards.

I've gone to a few drive-ins, mostly as a child. So I probably missed out on the actual fun, since I don't believe I ever went as a teenager. I went with my parents, I think, to see a couple of stupid 80s movies.

Wow...they had drive-ins that late of a date? The best time I had was as a kid. Loved canoodling in the car as a teen, but I really liked the earlier times best. Show up early, a little BBQ and playing on the playground equipment, then the previews, cartoons and then movie(s). Sometimes a double feature. I'd be sacked out shortly after the beginning of the second one though. Saw many movies first hand there. Planet of the Apes, 2001, Pink Panther movies, Jaws, Silent Running, etc, etc.

Could sit on the cars if the weather was good or the mosquitoes were not bad. And, if it rained, they made little things that suctioned cupped on the roof and was a rain fly for the windshields.
