yeah, that's the reason why i wouldn't, and i've seen a lot of psychologists or other and there are so few people really capable to make a good diagnosis about someone else,
don't mean it isn't possible but to find someone with a clear view is just not easy.
don't feel like being messed with.
if a therepast can be fooled and he just keeps on going 'talking about your life' than i don't see the point.
anyway i don't want to see it written black on white somewhere ready for other people to misuse it.
don't know what the apsie-quiz is worth but i had a high aspie-score, and i do remark it myself how much and in what way i differ from others. (mozart and the whale was quite clear too yes)

zannemarie, i had that with the stimming too, thinking i didn't but well , strange how we can overlook such a thing

does someone remember the thread with the positive and negative about diagnosis is?

First off, sorry for jumping onto your thread to ask this :P I just had the same question that you did, so figured it would probably be okay? Sorry if it's not >.<

Very interesting quiz-much different than the one I was originally given. I've taken this and have a 106-above average score from it.

The reason I'm here-even after seeing the test results, I'm still a big iffy on whether or not to have my psychologist give me this test. I have been diagnosed with BPD in the past (borderline personality disorder) due to traumatic upbringing and all, but I still have certain traits about me that relate to asperger's as well. I do know he's the only one that can give me the diagnosis, but with the BPD, I know my opinion of myself is very fluctuant, as well as my identity and knowing who I really am, what I like to do, etc., and I'm easily convinced/influenced about things, lol. I just took this quiz and already I'm thinking I need to have him test me (but I've only had 2 visits with him so far) and see what he thinks because I cannot be 100% sure that my social anxiety and all are caused by the BPD or not. I'm guessing that you can most certainly have both, but how do you know for sure when taking these tests the distinguishment between the two are? I have above average results in 4 areas, but am not sure how to really read this because.... ugh, forgot what I was going to say, sorry. oh, I'm having difficulty interpreting above average-is it above average meaning I'm likely to have it, or above average as in like, I scored higher (as in less likely) than the average that take this test... I'm really really confused by this for some reason-my mind just cannot wrap itself around it, and it's probably a really really obvious answer-something I should be comprehending very very easily. So sorry if it sounds so stupid, lol.

Any input about how to differentiate between the 2 diagnosises that would ultimately help me figure out whether or not I have asperger's (or at least point me in the right direction) would be greatly appreciated :)

I do arm flapping when I'm upset or angry, when I laugh-every single time my eyes tear up, I'm constantly cracking my knuckles if no other noise is going on at the time, and it slows down when people are talking to me, always bouncing my leg, and I tend to "write" the last word of every sentence almost that I hear in the air with my finger, or mouth it to myself at times. I cannot stand change in routine, yet my routine is absolutely non-functional for the most part (I park my butt in front of the comp a lot of the time, lol, and get nothing done around the house a lot of the time because i literally cannot find the time to do it because it would take me away from what I am interested in ultimately). I don't know if any of this stuff gives you any better idea to help differentiate between the BPD and possible asperger's, but I figured I'd offer those things up to help it make a bit more sense than saying "hey, I have BPD-you don't know who I am or anything about me, but do I have this (which I did when I first got the BPD diagnosis for a bit, lol)?" :P

Ultimately, what is driving me to get the testing done for these things is that my son seems to have traits as well-yes I need to get him checked out too, but I want to know what I have so that I can at least have a vague idea of why I react to things the way I do, and rule out things on my part that may lead to his behavior, etc. I need to know so that I can better understand how to work with him and deal with everything going on in a bigger picture, rather than just being straight up confused all the time, and getting frustrated about everything because I simply cannot understand it-in other words, just trying to get myself straightened out for a better home life for the entire family... what I do has a huge impact on their lives right now and always will.

hello nobodyzdream nice to see you here :)

I just got back from the shrink and he has diagnosed me with BPD and Aspergers so it is possible to have them both, his explanation was that the differences we have as children cause us to often have a traumatic time as and that is what causes the BPD .

my bf cringed at the idea I was looking into it since I am really easily influenced and can tend to adapt personas when I read over criteria, but I did this stuff before ever talking to you, so the stim signs have always been there-the rest I'm confused about. So I guess it is like asperger's underlying for the inability to respond well socially, then the BPD triggers emotional responses to everything that happens? Because I've noticed reading over a lot of BPD things-people don't respond well to social settings, they don't know how to behave and all, but really mine is more of a I want to look normal, but really could care less at the same time how people see me-then the emotional response: I feel horrible for not behaving the way that is considered "normal", but I still could care less and don't really try all that hard to adjust it as most BPDs do..... does that make any sense? lol

I don't know much about BPD-I just Googled it to try to find a quick listing. But it looks like it's got a lot of differences from Asperger's, and tons of the stuff you're listing sounds like Asperger's, so it seems like it would be worth pursuing if you think AS stuff fits you too.

It even says on the page I was reading about the DSM criteria that BPD always exists with other conditions.

It really does-it always has things with it... right now I have BPD, depression, ocd traits, and anxiety. But BPD is also not something usually jumped on to diagnose because they have to rule out almost everything before it comes across usually, lol. By the end of this, I will have probably taken a million tests, I'm very interested in learning more about asperger's as well-I tend to automatically get interested in things like this for some reason... natty just mentioned it to me yesterday and I called up my bf within minutes and was talking to him about it, lol. Since, I've not gone onto the BPD forums (people there seem to be really angry all the time lately-possibly season changes/new stresses?) and I've been on here, granted it's only one day, but I was obsessively looking at the BPD forum there for a good month or so (I think, I'm horrible at keeping track of time) and it's just completely changed direction as far as something new to look at and learn about. I will probably have my psych go ahead and do the test, if he will, just to throw it out there-it's never a bad thing to show an active interest in helping your recovery/treatment move along is it? LOL, and if he decides that's not what it is, rofl, at least he'll know there is something else going on with me since I am actually excited over an evaluation of this-no "normal" person is gonna go in there and lay these types of options right out there and look eager to get results :P Then again... not many "normal" people see therapists either, lol.
