I'm a weird Aspie in that I feel strangled by weighted blankets. In the summer, I'd rather sleep with a sheet, rather than a blanket.

How do you know what weight is best for your body?

Generally speaking, OTs recommend a blanket that's 10% of your body weight plus one pound, so for me at 85 lbs, a blanket that weighs between 9.5 and 10 lbs is most helpful. I think that lighter than that, and it doesn't have the same effect, and heavier increases the risk of poor circulation and/or not being able to get out from under it if you get trapped (typically a greater risk for children, with whom most autism-focused OTs work).

Thank you.
Startrekker, you only weigh 85 pounds? You are a teeny tiny thing. I weigh more than twice that.

Yeah, I am pretty small :) 4'11" and 85 lbs. According to medical growth charts, I'm the size of an average eleven-year-old female. I think part of it is the fact that I was born almost four months premature, and had a lot of growth and physical problems growing up (I took growth hormone shots every day for several years starting at about eleven or twelve). The other part is definitely genetic; my mom is only 4'10", and her mom is only an inch or two taller than me. I have a very short family!

My partner got me one and I like it. It's good to put on my bouncing legs, to calm them down while I'm trying to focus.

When my son was younger I got him one and I ended up using it more than him! Lol I bought it from sensacalm.com. It says they sell internationally, but I know that doesn't always mean everywhere. They're made with poly and are sewn in, never to be removed, washer and dryer safe. For pricing, the absolute largest blanket they have is approximately 62"X 72" and is 40lbs at 304.95. I'm pretty sure I spent less than $200 for a blanket and lap pad for my son. It's been a couple years but the prices seem about the same. They are also all hand made. Just wanted to throw in another option. Hope this helps! :D
