Can i ask who told you the diagnosis was it your GP or the consultant?
I start the process next week after a 14 year battle and never want to see my GP ever again.

The diagnosis was done by specialists in assessment for adult autism.
I found GPs to be useless with it so in the end I went to a mental health drop-in type thing that I found and asked them about referring me. It's worth looking to see if there's anything like that you can access, speaking to actual mental health professionals is a huge help when it comes to that! GPs are just the worst, the quicker you can be done with them the better I swear, it was like bashing my head against a brick wall with them.
Sorry i don't think i explained it too well. I actually start the assessment process next week at an adult autism assessment centre in birmingham, because of the protracted situation (14 YEARS) i just want it over and done with and out of the shady grasp of my GP, so the question is did the person doing the assessment give you the diagnosis at the end of the process or was the diagnosis sent to the GP to pass on to you?
Yes! They actually made a decision at the end of the first assessment. It was with two specialists and they excused themselves after the 2 hour assessment where they'd been taking notes on the questions i'd answered to discuss, then came back and gave me the diagnosis. They said i'll be sent an actual letter this week to show my employers as I start a new job tomorrow, and they said i'll have a second appointment with them sometime, to go through things we missed or such I think? But I think that's to discuss support also.
It could be different for you but for me they literally gave me my diagnosis on the day I was assessed and I don't think i'll have to deal with my GP at all about it.
