I was a teenager when I started the site. But even then there were a lot of adults.
In terms of traffic, it peaked in 2013 and then gradually declined a little bit. But it's been steadily increasing over the last year and is almost back to where it was at the peak.
I usually hate flounce posts, because they are so self indulgent. And the always popular "all the kool kydzs left", and now I'm bored. *shrug*. I guess it feels good to make the grand exit.
"The board was so better x years ago". Well, people change. If nothing else, people get older, and their lives change. If you came on the board at 21, I'm sure 9 years later you have changed as a person.
I think the reason the board is trending older, is the 30+ year old crowd is finally able to get diagnosed. Where are you going to hang out? A parent forum board where the kid ages usually clump around 3 to 12 years old?
Maybe if you live in the UK or the US coasts you probably have a ton of IRL support groups. You can fire up FB, and find real life people. I live in the midwest. There is NOTHING for adults who are level I support wise. Literally nothing. Lots of kids groups, a few teen groups, one or two groups for parents of level III adult children. You got diagnosed at 30, your wife is ready to divorce and your boss is figuring out how to legally fire you, where do you go to ask questions? Maybe you don't want to ask those questions on FB. Maybe a forum, which can be as anonymous as you want, is better.
People hate change. s**t changes. Everything is impermanent. As a Buddhist, I struggle with the concept of things changing whether I want it or not. I've learned to go with the flow. I've left support forums, but I considered the issues to be my problem.
All the places I hang out here are pretty active with posts. *another shrug*
Hope the OP will find a place more to his/her liking. But remember, after a few years that place will be different too...
