For the fragile x syndrome, there is a lab test https://www.fragilex.org.uk/testing
But as there is no specific treatment for fragile x, ruling it in or out won't change anything about your prospects. Your brain is as it is and you have to care for it the best you can, identifying and adressing your individual needs.

Hello everyone!

I made an account on this webpage today because I have been confused about myself for a few years now.

I have not been diagnosed with autism but I have been diagnosed with learning difficulties, and I believe that I might have autism too.

I seriously don't know what should I do, so I hope that someone here can help me with my problems.

I have made a few Asperger test's on the internet and they all said to me that I have a very good chance to have Asperger.

I have always had some autistic personality treats, for example, I have very bad social skills.

This is the worst part! I heard about a fragile x, and by some reason, I have very anxious thoughts on my head that I might have fragile x too. These thoughts about me having fragile x just don't leave my head, and I have been checking fragile x symptoms from the internet and compare them to me. I have been crying a lot in these past few months because my thoughts keep telling me that I might be ret*d.

I even made few IQ-test on the internet and they all said that my IQ is around 120.

I seriously don't wanna have fragile x.

Welcome to Wrong Planet.

I do not know what fragile x is so I can't comment about that. First thing I will say is try not to worry about anything. If you did an IQ test and got 120, you are far from being ret*d. You are brainy! An intelligent person!

The IQ test that I took was on the internet. It was on a Finnish Mensa webpage. And it SAID THAT MY IQ IS AROUND 120, but it did not never say that it is 100% relatable.

Stop bumping your thread like that. If you want to keep it up, respond to what others have said.

So you don't believe that I have fragile x syntrome?

I'm not a professional and have very little information to go on so would never go so far as to say I believe one way or another but your communications combined with the internet descriptions of the condition make me lean toward the unlikely side.

Can you tell me why you think that way?

Hi Spede - I really don't have any deeper input. I'm intentionally keeping my thoughts as shallow as my knowledge on the topic which is limited to a few minutes of an internet search and reading what you wrote here. It seems somewhat straight forward to detect and even easier to diagnose so I'd suggest chatting with your dr. about it and putting it to rest if it's on your mind.

Hey Spede,
Welcome to WP.
First of all, calm down, everything will be ok.
In order to help you figure things out we need to know a few things. First, what country are you in? That will make a big difference in how to go about getting resources. Secondly, how old are you? That is also extremely important.

Don't be scared. Whatever you have, if it is truly a developmental disability like Autism or Fragile X or Autism caused by Fragile X, you were born with it and you have had it your whole life. If you have it, you have it and you have always had it, if you don't you don't and you have never had it and you are not going to get it. Getting diagnosed does not change any one of those facts. All finding out does is to let you know if you have a condition that you were born with or not. It does not change who you are as a person in any way. If anything, it might just give you access to help and resources that you did not have before. So don't be afraid of a Fragile X or Autism diagnosis because if you find out you have it, you have always had it. But you might also find out you don't have it so rather than stressing over symptoms that you are finding on the internet, let's focus on helping you find a doctor who will give you the answers that you need.

We are not doctors or diagnosticians here, well, maybe there are some but we can't do that here but we can absolutely pull together from the resources and experiences that we have and help you find the right people in your community who can answer these questions. And I know that all this is scary but don't worry, everything will be ok.

But you need to tell us where you are so that we can try to help you find resources and telling us your age will help too.

the statistics for having fragile x syndrome is something close to 1 in 6-7 thousand births. If it particularly worries you, you can be officially tested.

I think most of your anxiety may be coming form self-diagnosing based on google searching.

I agree. What you need to do is to find someone who is qualified to test you and answer your questions. We can help you do that.

That is very good to know. Thank you. I live in the US so I don't know anything about services in Finland but I am sure that we have some Fins and Scandinavian people on this site. But I will see if I can find out anything for you. We will do our best to point you in the right direction.

Now when I think about it I believe that no one in my family don't have fragile x syntrome. So I don't have any kind off family history with fragile x syntrome.

There are few people who might have autism though.

I have tree big sisters and one little Brother and one little sister and no one of them don't have fragile x.

So, is it possible that I'm The only one on The family who has fragile x syntrome?

Hi Spede - As far as I know there aren't any experts on mental health at this site, and if there are the number of people who pretend to be experts when knowing very little far outnumber those with deep understanding.

I'd really recommend getting with a health professional to discuss your concerns if you can.
Is that not a possibility now for some reason?
