You Brits complaining about your benefits system should just be happy to not be living in the USA where we have no such system. You guys are extremely lucky to have what you have.

That's exactly why we're complaining - all of the changes to our benefits and healthcare system that I've seen in my lifetime have been designed to push it ever nearer to the US model. Homelessness, use of charitable food-banks, fuel poverty, and suicide rates among the less affluent have all seen dramatic rises. We will end up in the same unfortunate position as you if we remain silent.

This is why many conservatives want out of the EU , so the UK can align itself with the US model of welfare etc .

We want our own model. We only need to copy when someone else has a system which works better so it is worth copying.

A brief update.

I had most things already sorted. I was nearly there via the website. All there was was to find a way to varify myself. The lady that came up helped me as I was a little nurvous... I rang but then it was automated people press 1 or press 2 etc... So rather embarissing as I passed her the phone! My mind had gone blank as to why I was supposed to be phoning and I was trying to get my brain to kick back in so that I knew! Haha! Good job the lady was here. So when the music which was played in the queue stopped and someone answered, she took over and then the phone was put back to me... And it gave my mind a chance to speak. She had already explained what was needed. PHEW! HAHA!

So, everything is now in hand. I had already done most of it.

The lady is such a blessing. She works for a charity. I thought she did.

Well. Even though I was on the edge of having a partial shutdown where I very nearly didn't make it to the building, I made it. I was told to go up the stairs and wait up there so I did. I could feel myself starting to shut down so I slouched on the seat and closed my eyes to give myself a chance to blot out the goings on. Then a man came over who said we were round the corner. I remember him from years ago. I was not able to say much. I would like to thank him. Anyway. I saw the lady who went through things with me.
I do find the Universal Credit thing rather confusing as it is all geared towards finding work. All the titles are work related. Using one system to do the two can be confusing, but that is what was decided since the UK has decided to change their system. Maybe it is easier when one is ready to work in the future?

Also, a PIP was mentioned. The lady said it was worth putting in for a claim anyway. The problem I have is that the issues I get are only effecting me when I am having a partial shutdown or am fragile because I have had stressful days where I am prone to getting them. Other times I am fine so need no assistance whatsoever. It would be very difficult to answer the questions. For example, if I am in a full shutdown I am dead to the world... I have an awareness of things going on around me but my eyesight has gone and my hearing is either non existant or distorted... I can't make sense of what people are telling me until I am fully recovered. But full shutdowns don't last long as a full shutdown as they go back to the partial shutdown stage which could take half an hour or so to recover from. To be honest, when I am fragile this is the main worry as I go from one partial shutdown to the next throughout the day unless I can remove myself from the stressful enviroment which set it off to begin with, and it can take days or weeks of recovery before the fragile stage has passed. I never used to have this fragile stage. I used to recover rrom a shutdown and though I would feel a bit tired or worn out, I would take it easy and be ok.

But as these events are temporary and not a permanent event, on the one hand while in a full shutdown... Well. I am like a dead body!
But when in a partial shutdown... Put it this way. As everything takes an affort, I am not in the mood to try to do much or think too much (What I am saying is... If I am in this stage, yes, I sure need help but I would not want to, or be able to (Depending on how deep I have shut down)...

But anyway. Going back to the type of questions asked. They seem to refer to how one is normally. Normally I am fine. Normally I have very few issues. Normally I can function and do nearly everything that anyone else is able to do. So it is hard to know how to work out if I am eligeable, as Full shutdowns don't last long but are more then completely dissabling. If I was fully shut down permanently, I would not be at home. I would be in a hospital. And partial shutdowns vary according to how deep they are at the time.
