I can't sit cross-legged on the floor because my legs are bowed and deformed but I am flexible enough to touch the floor when standing upright, almost can touch the floor with my palms. I have issues with my neck being stiff a lot and stretch it multiple times a day every day.

I have always been able to sit cross-legged, but need a wall to keep from slouching. Like muscle strength, flexibility can be improved by regular effort. I never saw the point in special stretching exercises beyond what feels good and necessary naturally, but now I find it helps to keep places like the bottom of my car accessible. I'm considering putting a bar across a passage in my house that I have to climb over or under to regain some flex. As I age, it gets harder to maintain every physical ability.

Can sympathize ....... :(

i'm stiff in the wrong places. :| anyways, i digress. the older i get the more de-stiffening and limbering exercises i have to do. soon enough i'll have to spend a majority of the time doing these prophylactic exercises.

Remembering to do these stretches seems to be harder than actually doing them. Most days

I feel better when actually moving around, waling or running. When in bed, pains come out to play. Mostly, there are from poor posture growing up. Plus I sit too long here at the PC in an unsuitable chair! I wish I had a body-hugging one that could truly make me feel like captain of my own destiny, aboard the bridge of the Endless Quest.

don't skimp on a quality orthopedic chair. your body deserves the love, give it a good chair. and for posture, i flatten myself against a wall several times a day.

Definitely agree with this advice, take care of your back! I sometimes get neurological problems from sitting translating for hours at the computer in a regular dining chair.

in my experience a dining chair is death for the back. what do you translate if you don't mind?

Currently sit on a backless ottoman style chair. There's an office type chair here but it doesn't always work well for me. Sometimes I even use the couch! But that's a bit low so it's hard to work properly like that.

it can have the advantage of strengthening the back. But with my poor posture, not really ideal.

I may ask my sister to keep a lookout for a spare office chair that my brother in law doesn't need anymore.

my chair was cheap, about $30. thin and i augment it with extra padding, and the hydraulic lift thingy is shot so i hadda roll cardboard and tape it on the cylinder to keep it from sinking to the floor. a lot of used office chairs have shot hydraulics

I need a rather high chair; the ones with shot hydraulics are more for ten-year-olds to sit on as as they sink so low!

Often they actually sink with a little hydraulic sigh as I've just adjusted the height and sitting pretty...

From Hebrew to English. Presentations, CV's, speeches, patents all sorts. I also translate kabbalah lessons voluntarily which is my passion, it is actually related to the correct interpretation of the Torah and not the esoteric commercialized misinterpretation. The JewishTorah is actually a "handbook explaining how the universe works written in a certain coded language according to the wisdom of kabbalah. :D
