How old is your oldest memory?

my 2-year-old memories are actually fairly coherent----though scattered.

I remember my father telling me "You are four years old" -- and I remember knowing, at that time, the meanings of the words "You," "are," and "four," but NOT the meaning of "years" or "old."

I DON'T remember any of the following:

1) Anything that happened before I learned how to talk.
2) Anything that happened before I learned how to walk.
3) Anything that happened before I figured out how to play the piano by ear (including chords).

I was told later that I learned all of these things at around the same time, just a little bit before age 4.

I actually asked my mother not that long ago about a few things I ''remembered" not that long ago. I wasn't sure if they were memories or something I dreamed up. Apparently they were memories from when was around 2 years old.

So I guess my oldest memories are from when I was 2

I still vaguely remember being carried by someone above a baby cot and there was a row of similar cots on the right... but it would mean it's the memory from the time I was born

Another memory - the first one the authenticity of which I can verify - I had to be 10 months old and I was on the train from Radom (where I was born and lived for the first three years of my life) to Warsaw - my mom was showing me one of the capital city's famous buildings through the window.

I can also remember how as a child one month shy of my third birthday, I was trying to pick such a long candy that decorated our christmas tree... the tree fell and half the glass balls got broken

My later memories in turn, come from the time when I was three, like I can still reproduce in my mind my thought process from the time when, as any other toddler, i wanted to put my baby fingers into an electric socket - but then I instantly recalled my mom's warnings that it's going to kill me and when you die, it's already FOREVER - I was fully aware of the concept of eternity even at such a young age and that's why I didn't put my fingers into the socket and as you see, I am still alive, writing this I was afraid of death then, I remember I used to freak out back then as a toddler, whenever I saw a skullbone sign because I knew it meant death.

My oldest memory is of my parents bathing me in the kitchen sink when I was old enough to sit up (I dunno how many months old I exactly was though). I remember being very angry when the bath was done and they were taking me out of the water. lol

I remember being in a room, a dimmed sun shining through the window, laying in my crib, and not being able to get off my back and not having words, just cries. My dad was leaning over the crib holding my older sister and she hit me. Probably why the memory stayed with me.
My next memory is another traumatic event when I was about two. Running after my sister who was running after other kids. The kid in front of us slammed the door on us and she screamed because her hand got caught in the door.

My first memory I am sure about is being angry that my cartoons were taken away for coverage of the assassination of President Kennedy when I was six years old.

After 2nd grade my public school told my parents put him in private school or home school him. The found a private school. I remember that school, the bus ride, what the school looked like, including the classes. I went to a psychologist after school. I do not remember her, or what we did, or any diagnosis, but I do remember the street, and approximately where it was located.

I do have earlier memories but I am not sure if they are real or they are the result of family stories being told and retold.

My oldest memory that I can accurately date is at approximately the age of 2 years and 2 months. My sister and I were placed in an orphanage. It was a very stressful experience. About 50 years later, I asked my mom why she put us in an orphanage. She say It never happened. But then about 6 months later, she admitted that it did happen. She was expecting the birth of her third child, it was winter and the winters were severe so she wanted to put her children someplace safe until the child came, so she put us in an orphanage.

1982, so either 2-3 years old

I remember me taking a sink bath, too.

I remember laying in my crib as a baby and my eyes were open. I heard sirens going off. The room was pitch black as it was night.

I have a memory of climbing onto the top of the rail of my cot and pulling a load of chocolates off the top of a shelf an then just getting chocolate everywhere. I don't know how old I could have been but certainly no older than 3 but I don't know why I would have been in a cot at the age of 3.

It might have been a dream but I really don't think it was and I have no family to verify it.

I also remember bits of my first birthday. My aunt dressed up as a clown, and I thought the clown suspiciously sounded and looked familiar. lol
There was also a bean bag toss game that my older cousins were playing, and I was just putting the bean bags into the hole instead of throwing them because I was, well, 1.

I also remember going to the zoo when I was around 2. I felt oddly happy because I was wearing what I thought was "boy" clothes, and I remember finding all of the animals fascinating. I think I saw some apes there and thought they were especially cool.
