...how many of us have hid the car around back and pretended not to be home and can't live without caller id for this very reason?

Although as I age I couldn't care less if someone knocks knowing full well that I'm home and I don't answer the door. They shoulda called first

Argh.
Oh heck yeah. Plus, I don't mean to sound snotty, but I did take some undergrad classes at a not-so-great college, and honestly, by the time this came up in the semester, I knew most of the others would just drag the grade down. I did all the work myself as much as possible.
Actually, at the better school I went to, they never did those goofy group things! Hm, interesting.

It was very interesting-in my orientation to college class, our teacher had us take a lot of personality tests. Almost everybody in the class came up as introverted, and he laughed at first, until he gave us the option of working with others or working alone on our finals. Every single person did it by themselves.
In my reading class, I was silent for the majority of the class, even when people talked to me. There were also times I was picked to answer a question, and I would just sit there, no response. One of the girls decided one day that she liked me for some reason-I'm still not really sure why, but she started talking to me a lot. All I'd do is listen, I didn't have much to say back, and honestly wasn't taking in most of what was being said, as I was more focused on looking for the point in what she was saying, or just waiting to see when the conversation would end. Towards the end of the semester, I started talking a bit more, and the teacher noticed that and made a comment to me saying that she thought I was getting better because it seemed that the class was talking with me rather than me talking AT them when I had something to say. Little did she know, I was leading the conversation, could care less what the others had to say, and was essentially thinking out loud, lol.
At family get-togethers, however, that is one situation I'm most definitely FORCED into, and I cannot stand it. I just sit there and stare at the ground. I take my food outside to eat it, and generally will move if anyone sits near me. There is this undeniable obligation factor to go experience whatever the heck it is they are celebrating (half the time I don't even know what it's for) just because it is family... then there is this part of me thinking the entire time "what the heck is the point of being here and why does it matter so much?" Good times...
