Is anyone here bad at math/science?

I'm sort of okay at Science, but I can't do multiplication and division without a calculator.

I have dyscalculia, which is the mathematical version of dislexia. I believe I was in the 7th grade before long division finally stuck in my head and I didn't know how to count money until 6th grade (ended up a cashier for 7 years, go figure) I sometimes transpose the numbers 9 and 6, seeing 6 and 9 instead.

I barely passed high school algebra classes and thankfully, didn't have to take college algebra. For math to make sense, I have to visualize it as it would look like on paper or "write" it in the air with my finger. I think I'm the only college grad who still counts my fingers.

As for science, it's the same deal. I have to have a physical concept before I get it. Chemistry is just too abstract to understand in depth(can't see chemicals). Biology, much easier, except for chemical processes, physics, I understand the concepts but not the formulas and earth science, pretty straight forward.

On intelligence tests, I consistantly scored in the lower 25th percentile in simple math concepts esp. b/c like sophist, I screw up the small sh*t all the time. For example, I read 5 x 6 to be 5 + 6 or otherwise. In the more conceptual stuff like alegebra and calculus (Its a funny story how I got that far, it has more to do with a major scheduling error on the part of the school than with my skills at math) and passed those courses with flying colors. I understand the concepts quite well and I am comfortable using formulas and agebraic concepts, but I very consistantly screw the small stuff up.

Much like many of the people who replied, I to enjoyed my Biology class to extreme degree, and I was increadibly disappointed when I found out that my new school didn't have Anatomy and Physiology.

I adore Psychology, too.

I enjoy Science, I like Biology the most. I enjoy math very much and am really good at it.

In 4th grade I figured out how to do a kind of math, only I couldn't get another kind that's supposed to be alot like it. One time the teacher brought me to the hall to teach me and I told her I didn't get it. But she didn't believe me because the math I couldn't do was supposed to be easier than the math I figured out. I think I missed some of the next class because of it.

To this day I have no idea how to do long division.

Maths was my worse subject at school, in fact I don't have a qualification of any kind in the subject - I failed my O Level.

Hated it, closely followed by chemistry, which I also failed.


Passed everything else.
