What message. I wouldnt say misinformation like that really matters at this point. Surprisingly I couldnt give a toss what his viewers think.

And Dr Phil is a Texan twat. I don't mock Texans, just the ones I don't like (doesn't Dubya come from Texas?). I like Brent Spiner (despite the fact that I don't really like Star Trek), Tommy Lee Jones, Beyonce Knowles, Steve Martin and Renee Zellweger.

Wha--? I am talking about Texans, residents of a state, not an ethnic group or sexual orientation. Besides, there's only 2 I feel obliged to mock. One is already stupor mundi, the bewilderment of the world (how can Dubya still be in office?) and Dr Phil doesn't try to figure out the cause of a disorder before modifying it.

I did, though I doubt he'll consider it because the truth doesn't make money, spreading hate and misunderstanding does. I didn't get too confrontational with him though, because I am hoping (against the odds) he'll listen to what I had to say on the matter.

Oh, great. And I go to his alma mater.

I sound alot like the WP member at the link(he has a video). I'm sure if people decided they did not like me and they were not from the South they would ridicule me.

Hey, I wouldn't ridicule you. The only Texan I would ridicule because of their accent (amongst other things) is Dr Phil.

Look at the pics of poor Alex in the Extreme Disorders thing. In the shot of him sitting in his room playing a video game, he looks completely natural, like himself. However, when he's sitting up there in front of all those people he LOOKS autistic. Nervousness-induced autism, do you know what I mean? I think he suffers from social anxiety as well as anger.

Dr. Phil is full of s**t, I never liked his show. Not to mentioned its staged too.

"In first grade, his teacher called in the school psychologist because of some of Alex's odd behavior. The psychologist asked Rich and Karen if they were familiar with Asperger's syndrome. Both said no, and she told them their son had a form of what is known as high-functioning autism. "My whole life fell apart," says Karen. "What was most painful was I wanted him to be normal. I wanted him to have a good life. And I didn't know how I was going to provide it."

I was extremely disappointed when I read this. Surely the producers could have chosen parents with a positive attitude ............ oh no ........... that wouldn't have made good television

I didn't see the show, but I can just imagine the tone .... like it was a big tragedy or something.

When we were given the diagnosis, the psychologist first explained all the positive things about having Asperger's.

At no stage did I want my sons to be 'normal' because then they would be a different child.

I wish Dr Phil would have pitched it that:

- Asperger's is not good or not bad. It is a different way of being and viewing at the world
- People with Asperger's strengths are .....
- People with Asperger's have difficulties with .......
- The world is a better place for having people with Asperger's because ......
- These are famous people with Asperger's that have made the world a better place .... (I only put the famous people part in because a lot of NT's are obsessed with celebrity)

I'm going to e-mail Dr Phil.

I'm sure if 13 000 of us sent him an e-mail, something would be done.

We all want to know why Dr. Phil called AS a disease. Yes, it is a dis-ease sometimes (and normality is too!)-- but surely not a disease? Or did he simply mean an unusual, barely-heard-of dfinition of "disease"? Also, someone on WP said (and lots of us, myself included, agree) that perhaps Dr. Phil could have listed the positive traits of AS as well as the negative ones... and with other people too, to humanize them a bit more! It wouldn't detract from how well the show sold... it would just make it more interesting!

Yeah, I always thought "Dr. Phil" was an IDIOT! Oprah isn't that great either. Have you ever really listened to her voice? YEECH! HORRIBLE! I HATE that tone.

She is simply a woman that had a few good friends, lucked out a couple times, and was part of a big demographic and arrived when the english speaking market was starved for someone in that demographic that came up with some semi reasonable matter on a regular schedule.

She even lucked out with a name that, spelled backwards, was the same as a popular star.

I will email Dr Phil too. He has shown a very negative slant and needs to show the full picture.
