Do your parents "get" you?

My father doesn't really get me, I think, though I think he might think he does. My mother on the other hand understands me very well indeed - she is neurotypical, but with some aspie traits that I think help. She's been really amazing, both before and after my diagnosis.

My parents never understood me I dont think. Since I moved out I have never been so open and never before has our relationship been stronger. However, i feel I am and always was a mystery to them, especally my father (who shows often more AS traits then I). He does not understand why in the past I always got in so much trouble and seemed to ruin my life, he does not understand why im not as organized as he is, or why I dont do projects the way he does. I think our ways of thinking is similar in some ways and polar opposite in others, they understand my NT syster far better then they do me.
