11-13 years old was proberbly one of the most easiest times of my life I was at Secondary School and I was in like I mentioned quite a few times now a unit for people with Asperger Syndrome/Autism. When I was in the actual unit classroom I was able to be myself (oh dear) so far none of you have met me. Unfortunatly the teachers who worked in the unit knew absolutly nothing about the Autistic Spectrum because of that you could exagerate some of your traits and let come out worst then it actually is. The only thing would change is my consistant asking to be taken out of lessons because I knew there be alot of dossing around. I was taken out here is the list

History
Geography
RE
Science
French
Assembly (on occasion depending on my mood)

They were replaced by
Tutorial (where you do your Homework at school which was good I had all my Homework and had alot of free time at home)
Communication Skills (How to talk to people properly)
Social Skills (How to socialise with people in a certain envioronment)
Life Skills (Learning about life really most of the time we were going on school trips in that lesson)

When I was at that age I never took AS very seriously II would proberbly change infact I would teach the teacher a few lessons as well.

I don't see what the point would be. I mean, the things I enjoyed doing then - reading Jules Verne, drawing comic books, watching TV - I can still do today. And my classmates would probably seem unutterably childish to my adult self (they seemed so to me even at the time).

However, the OPPOSITE scenario - to experience all I have today with the innocence and depth of feeling I had as a child - would be very enticing.

Totally agree , Belle77. That would have been so wonderful , to have been understood. To have had the explanation. ( rather than thinking I was what parents said; lazy, selfish, contrary, " not caring about anyone but myself" evil person nothing like my lovely nice sister , who was perfect!)

Otherwise no, cos it was an AWFUL time in my life. One of the worst, when I begged my parents to let me stop school and they said I couldn't despite it being perfactly legal to homeschool and my Dad actually having read and supposedly agreed with Ivan Illich's and John Holts books about deschooling etc etc etc!! !

No way in HELL! :x

I would have 7th & 8th grade erased from my memory because my psychiatrist was no help at all & everyone hated me! :x :x :x :x :x

After I was promoted to high school, everything changed for the better.

It was not a good time for me...but if I could make it so that I'd inform my parents and teachers what was going on and be able to get help (fat chance in the very early 80s) then I would.

I would tell my old self that things wouldn't get better after all, and that I'd better go ahead with killing myself before life got too complicated.

Absolutly I would, looking back to 5th-7th grade althought I did get picked on it was such a simple and easy time, looking back I would love to be happy, carefree and well... free to do whatever after school again. I always think about those days, they are always with me. I hope I never loose my memories and always beleived I could loose everything material and still be happy with everything detailed I remember from the past.

My school days were the worst time of my life. I would not go back not even for a million euro's. the only thing I remember from my school days is that autistic presences in "normal" schools is a BAD idea and that us aspies need special schools without NT presence. Sounds harsh maybe but being isolated from the rest of your classmates and dealing with teachers and kids who don't have a clue about AS, is a recipe for disaster.

I'd go back just to observe, not to interact - just so I could see myself at that age from the outside & confirm to myself how aspie I must have been then.

I know it's not exactly on topic, but I wish I could go back to when I was at uni and ask for help. It was the worst years of my life trying to get through uni, whilst counscellors continued to tell me i was just going through a hard time and to snap out of it. Bastards.

I wouldn't go back in time, because if I went back to change something, and if I was successful, that means in the future I would have never gone back in time to change that thing because it didn't happen, so I would no longer exist in the past, which means I wouldn't exist in the future, and I would be thrown into some alternate dimension where I must to battle my past self and future self for eternity.

Good point!

I'm not really sure. I'd be curious, especially if I could change things. But I'd be worried I could make things even worse. It would be interesting to experience though. I'd probably rather go back either further, or about 5 years later (to change some specific things....maybe).

I'd love to go back just for a day or two. Just to see the way people used to dress and talk, and how my life actually was versus how I remember it. I used to be a perfect little nerd who never swore or did anything wrong. I'd go back and unleash some profanity on a couple people.
