Anyone NOT have trouble with humor, coordination, voiceinfle
1. Humour - I'm incredibly sarcastic. I didn't even notice until someone pointed it out.
2. Co-ordination - I play guitar, so i guess i'm alright at that. But i am good at walking into things and tripping over. Especially slipping off the kerb
3. Voice - I have to really try to not sound monotone, but then get confused as to what tone i should be using.
4. Fiction - I love it. I read every day. I love non-fiction more than most people aswell though. But my favourite books are the Darren Shan books. Although, he does write them as if it could have been real... Now that i think about it, most of the fictional books i read are written as if they could be real. I like the idea that there's more to this world than just humans and animals. Darren Shan writes so vampires and demons could be real. J.K. Rowling wirtes as if witches and wizards could be real. Kelley Armstrong writes as if werewolves, vampires and magicians could be real. hmm...

Humor..I am sorta known for my sense of humor...it is kinda on the surreal side....
Coordination...dismal at sports..am always tripping and bumping into people and things...Have always been abnormally slow.....um...even when I participate in one of my most loved activities(playung the ukulele)..my fingers get spazzed up, and I can't always get them to do what i want...I do have a good sense of rhythm though, and also I make sometimes things that are intensely detailed..so that is evidence that I am capable of decent fine motor skills
Voice...I have a sorta strange childlike melodic voice (see video on post video of self thread)...There is another video where I am being filmed giving a tour of SHFL..and i seem to be sorta yelling at the camera...my inflection is not exactly "normal"
Fiction...I almost started a thread that was gonna be entitled I like fiction
It helps me study..gain insight into people/human nature that I would not otherwise have...If it was not for fiction, I would be more clueless than I already am.

SAME HERE! Although I DO have trouble with some jokes, etc...
SAME HERE, but I could enjoy a good non obvious pun.
SAME HERE, but I DO have trouble with things like jumping jacks, or catching balls.
SAME HERE, but I may not have inflection when I should, and volume can change.
Well, NOW many sites say science fiction/fantasy is accepted. Still, I may indulge with others.
Actually, I don't think ANY of this is AS related(for or against)!

Humor: No problem just a wee bit warped..... But I don't like being the butt of other peoples jokes.
voice inflection: normal
Fiction: my tastes lean toward Sci-Fi and fantasy
Coordination: poor, I have "two left feet" and can just about ride a bicycle.

Exactly! That is just how I feel...I want to socialize but when I do I don't find it very fun after a certain point. When Im alone, I'm like why don't I have a group to socialize with, why do I have so much trouble? But when I'm out, a lot of the time once I've gotten that elusive social group, I find myself not enjoying it that much. Socializing is a chore much of the time, not fun. You phrased it perfectly, in how it drains instead of charges. Since this was an offshoot of my post, I'll answer
Sense of Humor - I definitely have one, no problem there.
Coordination - haha, I'm a klutz and I'm awkward. It's definitely a problem for me.
Voice - my voice is normal, but on the phone I sound very monotone for some reason. In general, not much of a problem, but I do speak too loud sometimes.
Fiction - I love fiction, as well as non-fiction. I love reading lots of things, just not chick lit.
This wasn't a bullet point but you said you didn't really have things that stood out as a child. I'm like that too, with the exception of kind of narrow interests (which isn't necessarily that odd), and finger stimming. That was the big thing, the only thing that made me stand out as a child. I didn't know how to control it then, and was teased in elementary school in first and second grade. It came out around 5 and was quite severe and odd looking. I still do it, but am better at hiding it, so no one ever notices. I pass as NT pretty well, but I still stim, have obsessive interests, and don't really enjoying socializing, among other lesser issues.
Whether I have a sense of humour depends entirely on whether something was funny or not. Sometimes, people disguise their fear or filth in humour and the crowd laughs more in discomfort or aggression than genuine appreciation of something funny. I don't find that funny. Others use subtle word play that I find amusing. And paradox can often get me to giggle at the absurdity of some situations. In short, a crowd or group would find me lacking in humour. Those who I've let into my quiet space, however, would not agree.
Sense of Humor-People have told me I have a good sense of humor. I don't like to tell stale, scripted jokes out of a joke book, many of which I don't consider funny and some of which I consider gross or mean.
Coordination-I was quite coordinated and athletic when I was young, but at times I can be clumsy.
Voice Inflection-I consider it to mostly normal, although my voice is a bit high for a 43 year old woman. I have been working to sound more adult.
Fiction-I like to read fiction, but I like it to based on real life. I don't like "chick" books. I like the Lillian Jackson Braun "Cat Who..." books because I like Siamese cats, although mysteries are not usually my favorite genre.
Sense of humour present and correct. It really confuses people when I make a joke with monotone, deadpan delivery. Co-ordination is terrible. Just the other day, doing a task I do every day, I mistimed what I was doing and smacked myself in the head with a large plastic tube, creating a large hole in my eyebrow. That was sixth times this week that I have drawn my own blood. Not a good week. I love reading anything. I would read anything from a comic book, through an instruction manual, an epic fantasy novel, to terms and conditions for an offer. Love to read and absorb. Currently on Its Me Or The Dog and The Lord of the Rings.

Humor: I have a quirky, but great sense of humor that a lot of people love... however it took a long time to develop. As a child I had almost no ability in this regard. For me it's like getting enough data. Once I had enough raw "input" of what people thought was funny (and that took years to get), and the ways in which I could make something funny... I could duplicate it well. It wasn't an innate ability though. Even today it's mostly because of my vast library of word-play relationships that I am able to do this. Like others have mentioned though, I'm best at dry, deadpan humor... which can work, but has to be done just right.
Coordination: Once again, I had no innate ability here... I was a klutzy child, but working for my father growing up really helped. He renovated houses for a living, and I spent most of my childhood helping him. There's nothing like hauling boxes of tile or laying up drywall to teach coordination fast, especially if a screwup means getting smacked. After all of that though... I'm only just "okay" at it, when I suspect if it weren't for AS, I'd be amazing at it.
Fiction: This is a tough one... I love certain specific types of fiction, but it's always fiction that's related to my other intellectual obsessions. For instance, I love post-apocalyptic fiction... because I love to study the decline and fall of civilizations. I love the Dune series of books because I love to study societies from that sort of detached point-of-view. I love many science-fiction novels because they deal to some degree with science. Alternative history novels are great because I love to think of the possibilities of history had things gone differently.
So I don't read fiction because it's fiction... but rather I read fiction because it's like exploring my interests in greater detail, exploring a lot of the "what ifs" and other nagging questions.
So out of those three, one is negated by intellectual understanding as opposed to innate ability, one is negated by extreme practice (however unwilling it may have been) and the last is balanced by my own intellectual obsessions.
Depends on the humour. :)
I'm much better with inflection than all the other mannerisms of social interaction; I can tell when someone's anxious, angry, sad et cetera. I cannot tell these with facial expressions. I'm pretty monotone if I don't know you, otherwise I'm friendly enough; I lack overt emotion in my voice, I innately try to appear calm.
Motor clumsiness isn't in the DSM-IV-TR; it’s required in Gilberg's AS criteria however (which they seemed to look over in my case, even though they use it and not the DSM at Attwood's).
Fiction: I read it. I'm a comic book geek.
Most people say they like my sense of humor because they like the dry sense of humor.
I'm definitely not clumsy even if I do trip I almost never fall over.
I know I don't speak in a monotone voice.
I usually only read fiction books but there are a few non fiction books I like. I think fiction is more interesting.
You know, the more I think about it, the more I can't remember what exactly I was like as a child. I remember certain events, but I don't remember if I felt different, or if I was awkward. At that time, I don't think I really was all that aware of what was typical and what wasn't, but I had friends, so I must have been able to interact. My mom notices everything, though, so I'm sure if there was something that really stood out about me she would've noticed it. She's really controlling and kind of dictates how I should behave, flipping out about little behaviors, so maybe she just never let me develop certain behaviors. I think she had a lot to do with it. She did notice I stimmed, because it was obvious, and took me to someone, but they said I was fine. I did have to go to therapy for my poor muscle coordination, which is a sign of AS.
Random thought: Does anyone who loves fiction feel like maybe they can understand motivations and characters better in that than in real life? Like understand subtle things in fiction that can kind of go over our heads sometimes in real life?
Yes! That's kind of the point, I suppose. Reading fiction teaches me how to understand real people.
I can often use the memory of a story I've read to figure out that "X reacted that way because of Y that Z did" or whatever.
So I usually understand real people by figuring things out logically rather than through empathy or whatever.
I also write fiction, and often use this to work through issues I have come up against in real life.
As regards your other points - I most definitely have a sense of humour. (I'm better at ironic one-liners though - I can't "tell a joke"!)
As far as I'm aware I don't speak in a monotone - but I do make a conscious effort to emphasise certain words when I speak. It is not something that happens instinctively for me.
Co-ordination is a strange one. I was useless at games at school, but I can dance well with my feet. The arm & upper body movements are much more awkward, however, although much better than they used to be after many years of working on them.
I think my awkwardness comes with proprioception, i.e. awareness of my body in space, rather than co-ordination.
You really summed up how I feel as well.
Especially about your speech/intonation and coordination - it's not so much that I APPEAR very different, but I am constantly aware of how I am using my voice, how I'm moving my arms, etc. It's definitely a level of discomfort that I imagine most people don't have...
