Not OFTEN, but I still remember the times. Ironically, it was generally because I didn't want to do EXACTLY what they wanted, do it EXACTLY the same way, or at EXACTLY the right time. Some people are just bossy and want others to be selfLESS! In a very real way, THEY are selfish! Look at their reasoning, and needs.
1. Are their needs equal to or better than yours?
2. Could you do it without much effort?
3. Are they reasonable?
4. Do you like them?
If the answer is yes to ALL of those, then there IS a case for your being selfish.
