I cannot go out without a watch, for the simple reason that I have absolutely zero sense of time and therefore could not function in society without it.

I have always said that time is my worst enemy, and that my tombstome will read "The late XXXX XXXX!"

I have no sense whatsover of the passage of time, and strongly resent the fact that I am expected to be at work at a particular time. (WHY????? As long as I do my job and work for the right number of hours, why should anyone give a damn whether I do it during the morning, afternoon or evening on a particular day? It makes absolutely no sense to me!)

Also with regard to timing in social interaction - no, I often don't know when to talk, how long to talk for etc. I am usually OK in an existing conversation with just one or maybe two other people, but I am really bad at interrupting people.

The worst thing is when I need to go & talk to someone who is already talking to someone else. I don't know whether to interrupt them, & if so how, or whether to "hover" until they get so uncomfortable with it they have to stop their conversation & ask me what I want. (I hate it when people hover, so I assume that others do as well!)

I'm beginning to think that perhaps I should start wearing a watch again. 8O 8) Certainly I have been a lot less "able" in almost all "public" environments since I stopped wearing one. ( things like arriving way too early, anxiety about it, etc)
My trying to live without one, and stubbornly holding the attitude that timekeeping is annoying, unnecessary, oppressive, and simply boring, ( despite the fact that I like to know when my sons papa is due home, or when buses go, or when to get to the library etc etc , am very time-orientated but in a camouflaged way ! !) has maybe had more to do with the fact that I, ASD, find it oppressive because have such trouble judging the right rhythm in social interaction, AND have immense difficulty establishing and maintaining healthy, efficient and energy-saving routines in my own life.
I binned the watch, like I binned most "feminine" stuff as oppressive when feminist analysis "explained it" as oppression!! Whereas I now realise that both seemed difficult to me cos of AS.
Now I think perhaps I should learn to love "my" watch. It would simply be a useful tool!!
Have to buy one first tho'! !
I fancy one of those old fashioned watches on a chain. Don't want one stuck to my wrist. But a watchchain needs attaching to something....mm.. maybe a loose bangly one. Hmm.

I wore a watch every now and again when I was younger. I apparently wear it on the wrong side, I was told that since I'm right handed, I should wear it on my right wrist. Which makes absolutely no sense to me. Anyway, I don't wear a watch now because I always have my cellphone on me and I check the time with that.
I have a pretty horrible sense of time. I'm always asking my boyfriend what day of the week it is, I rarely know the time. Though it gets on my nerves if someone says they'll be at my place at a certain time and they don't get there around that time. It makes me want to scream.
My Mother has a pretty crappy sense of time as well, she often has to write the day of the week on her wall(with washable crayon) so she know when she wakes up. If she doesn't she ends up coming to ask me and if I don't know we get slightly confused at looking at the calendar. haha

Used to for several years, but since the bracket that the band attaches to broke have stopped.

Now I carry it in my pocket. I rarely look at it.

Since then, I have developed a fantastic sense of time. I can pretty much sense when an hour has passed since the last time the clock chimed, and just then it goes and chimes the next hour. Same thing if I set the timer for 10 minutes. I think "isn't that 10 minutes up yet?" and then it rings.

I can't remember to wear a watch. A year or so ago, my moms friend bought me this really nice clip on watch. I kept it on my purse, because it was the only thing I always remember to bring with me. It broke a few months ago though, so now I have no watch and no intention of getting another one. Even if I did have the intention, I'm sure I'd forget :)

As for time issues? It took me a long long time to realize that I craved routine. It took me a long time to realize that the reason I got so freaked out when my boyfriend's little brother would use the last jar of spaghetti sauce, was because it meant I had to postpone dinner to go to WalMart, or find something else to make, and it screwed up my routine, and my world fell apart.

The reason it took me so long to figure this out? My internal clock has no schedule or direction. It never has, it never will. Since my body is incapable of keeping a schedule, I always assumed that I was too. But I'm now realizing that my definitions of schedules and routines are just different from others'.

I hate time anyway, it mocks me. Tells me to go to work/sleep and whatnot.

Me too, I cannot wear a wrist watch because it annoys me way too much and also makes my skin break out.

I used to wear a watch but there were a number of issues with it so I stopped and have refused to wear one ever since.

The watch I wore was rather bulky and kept on getting caught on things, it also became painful writing for any length of time as it dug into my wrist. I have to wear a digital watch as I can't read analogue, and I preferred analogue watches, but I couldn't use them. I kept on breaking out, getting sweat rashes, and I had tan lines.

I was checking my watch obsessively and it was interfering with my work, and frankly I have enough trouble understanding it when I'm paying attention, which isn't good.

The worst thing I found about wearing a watch though is that people are always asking you the time, and I'd rather be left alone.
