Ugh. I can't stand being told off. It always overwhelms me to the point where I feel light-headed and my hands shake. Pathetic, I know. But I can't really help how sensitive I am.

i hate being told off, criticized, whatever...i'm ultra sensitive to that kinda stuff....i usually wind up kinda turning in on myself, and shutting out whoever it is saying the stuff....but then later, sometimes when i'm least expecting it, it will come back to torment me and i usually wind up breaking down into a complete mess...
definately a major weakness.

Being an attorney, you would think I am pretty thick-skinned, and I am for the most part when dealing with other attorneys or clients. But if someone in a position of power, like a judge, yells at me, I will cry. I hate being yelled at.

Three times in the last year I have almost cried in court. It's so embarrassing. One time, the judge let me leave out the back door so that the other attorneys out in the courtroom wouldn't see that I had been crying.

That judge thought I had done something wrong, which I kind of did do something wrong, but I explained what was going on and why I did what I did. And then I started crying. I think he felt really bad that I was crying, when he was only intending to yell at me for something he thought I did.

I'm extremely sensitive to being told off. No matter what its about, I always find it hard to hold back the tears. Which makes the situation a whole lot worse. :(

Even compliments make me uncomfortable.
Being told off really sucks.
And of course, I don't want to cry in public. Not about anything like that, at least. Very irritating experience.

Oh, and @ Ana54: I don't see anything wrong with what you wrote. IMO it was wrong - or at least disrespectful - to criticize you, even though I guess it's excusable, their stress considered.

Eeek, I feel so bad now! I should have written it in the third person, at least! Now the whole fifth floor is talking about how it was a sucicide, as there was a suicide note written on his door! The staff all know it was me, they were very nice about it, said if I wanted to talk I could, they knew that I had depression even before so they were worried about me, they said I would be arrested if I did it again because it was vandalizing the building but they concluded that it wasn't malicious but I was just hurting, they called it poetry, they knew it wasn't a prank. :) I confessed that I knew I was pushing it even before-- talking too loud on the phone, going on websites ("chat sites", aka WP) that I wasn't supposed to, arguing with my mother in the computer room-- but she said that overall I was pretty good. She asked me about myself, if I was recieving treatment for the depression, etc.

All the guys on the fifth floor seem to know; every single one I talked to brought it up themselves, except for one, Doug, who I brought it up with. Me and my mother had talked to him many times before, he was a nice guy, been seeing shrinks for 12 years too. I didn't think he'd be judgemental because he was schizo and on antpsychotics and depressed and on Celexa, and drank. I told him, "Oh God, now everyone thinks Terrance committed suicide!" He said, "Well, he did, actually. He left a suicide note on his door." I told him, "No, that was me." He said "Really?" He seemed to think I was a bit off, or at least what I was saying was. And he's off too! If people with problems won't accept me then who will?

Let me tell ya, it sucks when you work with a boss who gets pissed at you whenever you do something wrong. That was one of the reasons why I quit my old job since any insult or anyone yelling at me makes me either depressed or angry and it was something I didn't want to put up with.
