The few human friends that I have are simply... Humans. I wish not to try to label them as NT or AS or what not; they are who they are. And like me, they have strengths, endearing qualities, and what not... But also oddities, weaknesses, flaws, troubles...
I'm not sure I understand the question; I see no distinct divide between "neurotypical", and "autistic". I'm not saying that there is no divide; just that I cannot make it out as being distinct when I try to place my friends in camp A or camp B.
My friends are my friends. I do not seek to dissect and analyze and categorize them; I save such introspections for myself.
Good fortune,
- Icarus could very well be a nontypical neurotypical...

Tricky stuff. lol
I completely agree.
Although I've met at least one other person that I believe to be an aspie (knew her online first, met up with her once) and it was still terribly awkward because we just couldn't communicate, or something... I don't know. I like her a good deal as a person, but I had a terrible time trying to talk to her. I mean, it was even more awkward than most of my dealings with people. That was before I realised/found out that I was an aspie. But when I left that day I was thinking that she had to be something like that. Heh.
All of my friends are certainly NT's from high school and collage, I usually see them on weekends, I have a small core of close friends, and a few I hang out with, but thats about it.
I have never met someone at least my age that I knew for sure was on the spectrum, I certainly would like the opertunity someday tho.

I clicked all NT, but they are very odd NT and all except 1 in the group of 6 have OCD traits.

Exactly. Most people, once you get to know them a little, can be odd and very few fit a stereotype completely.
I don't know other aspies - I figure that if I did, we'd be too bad at socializing to be friends haha. I need someone who is NT to help bring me out of my shell - I get along both with strong personalities and very introverted people. But in general, the friends I'm close with are very honest, straightfoward people, and that's why I like them. No backstabbing or intense phoniness - I don't have fights with them. They're not exactly like me, but we have at least some stuff in common, and they aren't completely messed up. I had only 2 super close friends that lasted from middle school-high school. One was a bit ditzy, an obsessive shopper, easily pressured, and obnoxious, but she was very nice, always willing to do something, and took school seriously. She got on my nerves so much sometimes because she wasn't very bright and could be so ignorant or compulsive, but she was always there for me and I appreciate it. Now she's become a real partier at college, but I'm still friends with her. My other friend was the opposite - she didn't spend money, was very 'granolary', into nature and vegetarianism and hiking and all that. She was very bright and took school seriously, and knew what was going on in the world. She was tough and bossy, but an extremely honest person who never was phony, and she was always around to do something with. It was funny, because I always felt like she had a lot of friends, always hanging out with a group of people and trying to get into that group - she was quite bold. But before she went to college, she told me I was the only real friend she'd had in high school. I think my other friend felt the same way. So I guess even though I felt like I was the only one who didn't have a huge social life - they may have done more stuff with more people, but it wasn't all that meaningful. I miss them a lot, and they appreciated me for my honesty and loyalty and lack of phoniness, allowing them to ignore some of my obsessions and all that. I'm looking to find more friends like them in college - people who can find some common ground on which they relate to me, and understand that I don't go out partying with them. Long post - the only the autistic person I ever connected with was a little boy - a family friend. He's 9 now, and fairly severely autistic. I always wondered why I had such a deep connection with him since he was born when I was 10 - now I know why.

Friends are ones who accept you, aren't prepared to try to understand who you are (I think I got that right, I don't want people to say they understand me when they really, really, don't), and want you around.
I have found myself confident enough to tell four people about me, my mum, my sister, my best friend, and my business partner. My mum is a little agnostic to the whole thing, my sister I think believes if I really had AS I would fit into the "mold", my best friend is a little confused by the whole thing, and my partner has been the best, she has accepted everything I have told her, and knows not to be surprised by my words and actions.
Sorry to any grammar devils for the long sentence.

For quite some time, my only friends (for the most part) were online. Over time I realized that if I could be social online, I could extend that to real life, with effort. I do have a circle of friends now. They're all NT, if slightly askew NTs. They're not the football player, cheerleader sort of NTs lol

I only have friends who have something to do wih autism spectrum people, like it's their job or they are on the spectrum. And I have a lot of animal friends. Plant friends, too, for that matter. I used to be good friends with a car but she died.
