I found it wastes energy to try to hold things back. I have no problem with just doing ewhat I want to do as far as stimming is concerned now that I know I won't get locked away for it.
I don't consider palilalia, or echlalia stimming though and though I can hold back some Tourette's symptoms for a while I don't worry too much about doing so for minor things, but the major attacks have to be treated like seizures, so I prefer that they do not happen in public.
