I have spent the better part of ten years studying this topic.
For the record, this does not mean I think I am better than anyone.
It is just what I study. And these are conclusions I have reached.

Good is infinite and eternal.
Evil is transient, and divisive.
Good is sort of like entropy, to me. It is balance, it is inevitable.

In our day to day life, the choices are subjective, it is hard to say what actions are good or evil, but always when evil occurs, there is clinging.

Quote:
Good vs. Evil seems to also be on a spectrum. There is ultimate Evil and ultimate Good, but there is also a lot of stuff in between, many of which cannot be considered good or evil, per se

Good and evil are a sort of spectrum, but not a linear one. The evil is within the good. It is simply division. I'm not sure about ultimate evil, evil is only a function of good. This idea of polarity causes a lot of problems for people.

Good and evil are a matter of prospective, to an animal that is being hunted for food, the Creacher that is hunting it is an evil thing, while to the hunter the food is a good thing, while to me, a hunter that hunts just for the sport of it is an evil.

To a religious fanatic a sea coast turning as red as blood is an evil omen of impending doom, or a good omen of salvation soon to come, where to others it is a natural curiosity of a variety of fungus and algaes that plague the coast lines now and then and are a natural part of the Eco system, while to a fisherman it is a vary bad thing.

To the religious community, finding a cure all that does completely away with death and aging and decay is a bad thing, to an atheist its all good (except for the over population problems).

For poor family's that go hungry much of the time, seeing the market prices for foods and cloths plummet is a vary good thing, while to the rich farmer it means loss of income and is a vary bad thing.

The most common thought of good and evil is simply that if its harmful to the community's (or the religious centers) or our Eco systems, then its a bad thing.
