I have always been a small girl so when I got into fifth grade (year 6), I was a bit chubby from too much fattening foods. However, I had a virus in second grade which went away, but the cough stayed with me until eigth grade. In the meantime, I was coughing 24/7 althought I took meds that gave only some relief. In sixth grade, I hit middle school where I had gym every day and had to run around the gym. All the running made me very fast, but also made me skinny and it hurt when I coughed after running. In seventh grade, I looked anorexic. I also never felt hungry much and my cough was at its peak where it seemed like medicine did nothing what so ever. When I did eat, I ate very little. Coughing 24/7 takes A LOT out of you so the teasing about seeing the bones in my wrists clearly was horrible. I saw an allergist before eigth grade started and recieved effective meds and my weight started to increase. I also felt hugrier.
To this day, I am still short, (a little over five fot three inches) and weigh between 100-110 pounds (one pound is about the weight of sixteen apples), mostly around 100. I am not really skinny, just tiny. I too get wrapped up in what I am doing. When I get hungry, I usually ignore my hunger until it hurts. I often have to be told to go eat or I will continue to do what I am doing.
I suggest eating more, like little snacks, such as an apple or a bag of cheerios seven times a day. My ninth grade health teacher suggest that. -Power Girl
