I've sucked my fingers a few times growing up. Thumb? Never but have tried it just to see what it's like and to imitate the behavior.

I freaked out for several weeks, before finding another stim I could use. My parents had tried everything up until that point; gloves, tape, slathering my hand in tabasco sauce (which I still won't eat), even an appliance from the dentist specifically designed to stop finger sucking. But nothing ever got me to stop. I haven't done it badly since the braces came off when I was sixteen or seventeen, but if I'm really stressed or thinking, I'll sometimes start sucking on one of my fingers even now.

Oh you got subjected to all of that as well?

Did your appliance look like snake fangs at the top of your mouth? Mine did. I stopped sucking my thumb while I had it on, and stayed stopped for a year after it was off, until I encountered the 6th grade.

I sucked my thumb until I was about 17 (23 now). My older brother ,who is 25 and NT, still sucks his thumb. My teeth are now crooked because of all the thumb sucking I did. I stopped when I had my first depressive episode and I lost the habit. I still have a comfort blanket which I like to stroke when I'm going to sleep.

I sucked my left index finger until late in highschool.
I only did it when sitting at the computer or going to sleep.
I stopped because I noticed that my finger had become twisted from my biting down on it and didn't want to do more damage to it. It was rather hard to stop, but I chose to in order to protect my finger, so I eventually broke the habit. Every now and then I still find myself biting on my finger, but it is rare.

I never sucked my thumb or used a pacifier even as a baby.

Not me because I thought it would be utterly unhygienic. I was always afraid of mycrobs.

I used to suck two fingers until I was about 8 when my evil stepfather told me if I dint stop, he would cut them off,
Knowing the sort of man he was, i belived him so in order to stop, I had a pair of toy handcuffs so I handcuffed my hand to the side of the bed at night.

Sure did, except it was I think four prongs across the roof of my mouth pointing down, not just two. I somehow managed to bend them into a shape that allowed me to keep sucking; I just would not give that one up. It amuses the family now, because I went for so many years doing everything with my other fingers because that one was in my mouth, that I don't tend to use it for things other people do now.
