My husband is like that. I stopped doing that in college or shortly after. Now I'm addicted to "trying stuff". I suffered many years of being nauseated by things that I didn' t like. I was jealous of people that could stomach foods they didn't prefer. I slowly was able to eat more and more. Now I can eat almost anything. I have favorites but it's a big list.

I'm horribly bad about always ordering the same thing. So bad that at one place I frequent, the guy actually recognizes me and asks if I want the usual :)

I'm not so picky as to always sit at the same place, though. So there's that at least :)

I don't think it's weird. I usually find that at every restaurant there is one meal that is far better than all the others, so I stick with it. I may be slightly afraid to get something else but just because I know it probably wont be anywhere near as good as my favorite, therefore I'll be disappointed. I just like to stick with what I know will leave me satisfied with my choice every time.

Oh, and Pantera is awesome. Good choice.

I go to a certain restaurant because at that time I want that certain dish that that certain restaurant makes. If I want something new, I try a new restaurant.

I tend to order a chicken burger or chicken sandwich everywhere I go. I just like them and I find them comfortingly familiar and safe to eat.

Now that you all mention it, I notice that I always have the same thing too.

I'm weird - I have to try something different every time.

I almost always get the same thing when I eat. Every once in a while I feel really adventurous and order something completely new (as in not what I always order). There are a few places where I will choose between a couple things, but it is usually a side dish that I vary. I am perfectly able and willing to try new foods, heck I will eat pretty much anything once. I just always seem to fall back on the tried and true at different places I eat at.
I tend to choose where I want to go based on what I want to eat, not choose what I want to eat based on where I am. If I don't want a double stack with chilli I won't go to Wendys.
If I don't want a delicious veggie club sandwhich then I won't go to Jimmy Johns.
If I don't want a turkey artichoke panini with veggie soup, then I won't go to Panera.
If I don't want unagi donburi or a sashimi variety plate, then I won't go Hayashi.

I have so many food issues that I am guilty of ordering only one meal at places I eat. I have a favourite at most places. I actually have a reportoire of 4 things that I switch between at Bob Evans, but mostly I always eat the same things with few variations. It gets me bent out of shape if I go to an unfamiliar place and they don't have anything that I can eat.

I hate faggy salad sandwich shops. You know, those places that only have wheat breads and other breads high in gluten content and then mayonnaise mixers. You know the ones, chicken salad, tuna salad, ham salad...ugh, makes me sick just thinking of it.

Give me a steak and baked potatoe everywhere I go and I'm perfectly happy. Absolutely love the tangy tomato salad dressing at Outback. I wish they would bottle it.

Yes. I like sameness.

The only time this becomes a problem is if I do this frequently enough that I begin to detect subtle variations in food taste or quality from visit to visit. Then I get bugged out and can't eat it for a long time.

When I go to Macayo's (mexican food restaurant), I always get the chimichanga.
At Manuel's (another mexican food place), it's the beef fajita burrito.
At Subway, same sandwhich every time.

Get it?

It's not like I'm scared to try other food, in fact I like the other food they have, it's just what food I like there the best.

No m8 ur not odd i do almost da same ting like u do cos 4 me its a routine so therefore pickin da same meal makes it easier 4 me.

Yes, I do get the same thing every time.

I'm having dinner at Red Robin tonight; blue-ribbon burger, medium rare, with garlic fries, just like always. I get the exact same thing every time. And I eat there and at the other various places where I eat out infrequently enough so "the same thing every time" does not amount to "constantly".

I'm not un-adventurous about food, but unless I'm specifically looking to be adventurous rather than being hungry and just freaking wanting something to eat, I will always choose something I know I like over something that I may not. It really bites to order some fun sounding mystery meal when you're hungry with your mouth watering, and then be horribly disappointed in what you got.

Experimenting with food is something I'll do with meals I artfully prepare at home; in that case, it's more than just an item on a menu with a few sentences of a vague description; I know exactly what is going into it, and that notion is something that will make my mouth water too.

"Spiced pikachus with red chupacabra sauce" may sound interesting; and it may also taste like crap.

Mmm, my mouth's watering over the blue-cheese burger. I know exactly how it'll taste, and that I'll like it. Not a thing wrong with that.

Good fortune,

- Icarus is weird because he doesn’t want to eat things he doesn’t like…

WHenever I eat at a restaruant I always order the same meal. I find the meal I like best and of course order it all the time because why order something else, it is the meal I like best at that particular place?

I don't see what's so odd about that. I prefer to stick with what I know I like.
