You are right conflict is not a bad thing the bad thing is when people feel disrespected. I think people are wanting to say that the level of personal attacks and lack of respect are getting tiring. It is hard for many individuals (myself included) to take things that are written in response to something personal and feel that the responses are not personal.

I find that there is something different to a reply stating I dislike when people appear to whine and saying get over the whining. One feels like a general statement the other feels personal. No matter what similarities we all have we also have different ways of responding and coping with the world and that can make for a issues. The trick is for us all to be able to navigate the differences and issues.

Not sure you did. To be honest, Neanthumain's post is amusing, and I like his sense of humour, but I really don't think it's appropriate to post something like that here, considering that it could be interpreted by certain people, who maybe having a particularly rough time, as an attack on them.

I put up the warning explicitly so that no one would think that post was directed against them. It's more a response to the general impression of so many forumicide threats made lately.

I've noticed some people almost seem to want to be upset about things. It's not my responsibility to keep them from being upset.

But seriously, Neant Humain, I've always wondered what was the point of "goodbye" posts. If you don't like the forums, then don't visit the website, plain and simple. It's not like we're all physically visiting each other and know exactly how often someone shows up. Personally, whenever someone says something here to make me angry, I say my piece and leave it at that, just as I would IRL. But I'm not about to flip off everyone else and cut off something I enjoy just because of a couple of people. That doesn't make any sense.
