wow... this explains a lot... I should not correct my boss so often!

It's some what Ironic(?) that I know this, but continue to ignore it at work and end up in trouble. I have an OCD like compulsion to be "helpful" and clear up misinformation as well as share unasked for suggestions. I KNOW that it makes me unpopular but it is a lot like other OCD behavior...if I don't "make it right ", it's like having a constant itch....eventually I am going to have to scratch it or it is all I will think about. Having this psychological information has done me no good in ending the compulsion.

Sometimes it sucks to be us

hmmm I've never realized that I do it because of my OCD... I'm always fighting against it, but suddenly OCD appears in some unexpected place...

The penguin is an aquatic bird. They simply adapted to suit their habitat. The ostrich is also a bird, but like the penguin it cannot fly. Yup, nature is weird.

Once when I was fourteen, and at camp, I was playing "20 Questions" with the other girls in my tent. The girl who bunked below me had chosen 'tiger shark', but I couldn't get it, because she said halfway through that the animal was a mammal.
So at the end I corrected her, and she got mad, so I tried to reverse the damage, saying, "I'm sorry, I guess that's just what I get for being in GT classes." And she said, "Well I'm in GT too and you don't have to be a b***h about it!"
I was sooo confused...
Something that bothers me too is when people say dolphins are fish, or that spiders are insects. It makes me want to tear my hair out, even though I guess I can understand why some people would be confused about it.
What's GT?

When I saw the title I was already going through my head with all the facts that I have on penguins by watching documenturies and the like. But I guess everything has already been said, even the info on the platypus, marsupeals are warm blooded, have fur, have beaks, pouches and lay eggs. The only thing with penguins is that swimming is better then flying for them, well they don't just live in the cold, in Australia we often get tiny penguins that come up on our beaches. We used to call them Fairy penguins but supposidly we are not alowed to say that since is supposed to be insulting to the gay community, I don't see how.

Some people call homosexuals "fairies". Don't ask ME why! But they DID steal the term "gay", so they really have NO right to complain!

Ignorance isn't always bad it can be hilarious too, if you really want to confuse the hell out of them just tell them that Penguins aren't just birds they are also Dinosaurs.

One things for sure when you've finished educating them about it they will probably know more about Penguins Birds and their place in the evolution of life than they ever wanted or needed to know.

What a bunch of morons! Good thing they weren't talking to me because I would have verbably abused them on their stupidy. If someone is talking about an animal at a zoo and says someting that is wrong I will correct them and make them so sorry they are even in the animal buisness. There was this one idot at the aquarium saying penguins did not live outside of Antartica. I wanted to punch him. My parents would not let me speak to him because they knew I would insult him. Wikipedia is not the gospel truth and penguins ARE egg laying birds. I've actually petted a penguin and they feel soft. Sort of like mammal hair.

That's hilarious. I don't know why you can't call them fairy penguins either. Maybe switch to pixie penguins, or sprite penguins?

This is so true. Do you have a newsletter I could subscribe to? ;)

This is why I get so frustrated by small talk. I just don't share the need to bond by sharing pointless phrases.
