Some ignorant comments anger me
Mountain climbers earn a lot of money cleaning hitech skyscraper windows in my city. They get lots of positive attention too. However, if they're aspies, they won't have a job because you need to be good socially to find one of those jobs.
PS: those guys are hot, omg!

reading/writing/typing vs talking vs singing are all operated by different regions of the brain... so it's possible to have different combinations of abilities in those areas.

This is one reason I do not like school. People do not understand me and people just do not understand ANYTHING! I remember a couple of days ago I was on the bus home and I mentioned I was an Atheist and people were looking at me wondering what that was until someone spoke up saying "isn't that where you think you are an alien?"
And I HATE ghetto people because I have never met one who actually knows anything they are talking about!
I have a VERY low tolerance for ignorance. I get very upset when I am around ignorant people, people who think they know something but they can not even tell the difference between day and night!

That's true, unless, of course, the jobs are using a computer, climbing a mountain or digging a hole. Digging a hole job would be easiest to get but most people cannot do that all the time because they aren't in good enough shape. Mountain climbing? How many jobs involve mountain climbing? Since there are no mountains around here...none. Computer jobs are plentiful but soooo many people want them because all they do is sit on their butt all day data processing. The competition is fierce.
I think the quote should read:
"WTF Getting and holding a job and using a computer or climbing a mountain or digging holes are totally different."
With jobs, you need good enough social skills or be able to work with people, show up to work on time, multitask, etc. I think it's hard finding a job that suits your needs. Lot of jobs require a college degree and what if you never went to college because of your learning disability. I don't know any computer jobs where you don't need a college education except for fixing them but you need to know how to fix them. But if you are doing things by yourself at home, there is no one telling you how to do it, there are no people, etc. you are fine. It's the same as telling me if I can write stories, then I can write a report. Not the same thing. With story writing I can take my time all I want, there is no dead line when it needs to be finished, I can write whatever I want in it. With reports, you are told how to do it, there is a dead line, if you get a writer's block, it's very hard because of a stupid dead line and the fact it's hard to write in your own words. If you say things that are directly out of the book or webpages, it's plagiarism but it's okay for elementary kids but not for teens or college students.
I know every person with a disability is different. I know most of them have jobs and lot of them don't. It all depends. That's why there are disability services out there for people with disabilities. It's to help them get a job.
Oh yeah, what if you have very bad dyslexia and poor hand writing. It be very hard to get a job because if you have a lot of misspelled words on your application or your hand writing is very hard to read. The managers just throw it away. Don't even call you and ask for a interview. Luckily my boyfriend was able to get jobs somehow.

Spokane Girl,
Around here the average person who has average typing skills and knows their way around Microsoft Office can go to a temporary agency and get a job fairly easily, if they "look" capable and have a neat appearance, dress nicely. I live in a place that has a lot of unskilled laborers, plenty of jobs here do not require a college degree.
It's common for people with Asperger's to lose their ability to function in a workplace environment, even though they have the physical and cognitive ability to do such; being around people is what they can't handle [as well as what Spokane_Girl listed]. It's why so many work with their family [who they grew up with and can handle being around], or work by themselves.
I can dig holes till the abducted cows come home on my time and when I've made it a part of my routine, it doesn't mean that I can dig holes in a workplace environment; they're two different things.
Many people are ignorant of the actual disability that even "mild" Autism/Asperger's brings with it, and I find it ironic and hilarious when it comes from people with said "mild" Autism/Asperger's themselves.

Okay I didn't know that. Because I have seen jobs here in the newspaper or online for my area and they are all asking for some college degree and certain mount of years ofexperiance.
I could be wrong about everything I said in my OP
but I have spoken to some people online and they said they be unable to work and I ask them why and they tell me. They either have memory problems so they are unable to remember how to do their job, not good in social skills, sensory issues, or they are in a wheel chair. I think it's hard to find a job that suits your needs and what if you can't find on in your area and you can't even move. I just want people to be more understanding, not judgmental about others. To stop comparing them to other people with disabilities. I would recommend disability service to them.
If I were stronger physically I would work a job digging holes if they paid me. You don't need the social skills to dig the holes if you have the physical strength! Me being female, however, doesn't work in my favor. Digging holes wouldn't be a great job for me because, after thirty minutes or so I would get tired and start complaining. But if I never got tired I could dig holes forever, it's soooo easy. That is just easy money that requires NO socializing and I would be very grateful for such an easy job. In fact, I don't even think many jobs that are as easy as that actually exist. Most jobs you have to do other things that are a bit more complicated:(
You don't understand:
You need to be able to talk to people
you need to be able to take orders
you need to be able to arrange for transport to and from work
you need to be able to work on someone else's time/routine
you need to be able to respond to spontaneous orders
.
.
ad infinitum
The physical act is the easy part [compared to the above for someone with an ASD who is physically able]. All of the above can be affected in Autism/Asperger's, and they all add up to someone who can't work with people (it has nothing to do with social ability).
Siiiiigh. Okay I will tell you what happened to me Spokane Girl. First off, no offense to anyone, but I don't want to consider myself "disabled". I feel like I am more "abled" than MOST of the people!
I have gone to great effort against tremendous odds and have had plenty of jobs in the past. Like a lot of individuals on here, I had trouble holding them.
In the past I went into this Temporary Agency called Express and took their tests and did excellent, but for some reason they told me they had nothing available. So what did I do? I called them on the phone the next day pretending to be someone else asking if they had anything available and guess what?????
They did! When they didn't know who I was and it was over the phone SUDDENLY there were things available. I also mentioned over the phone I had the same skills as the ones I did tests on and were excellent at. So YES they did have jobs for those who had my particular skills. They lied to me in person and I caught them in that lie.
So, what I did was tell the woman on the phone that I was there the previous day and was told there were no jobs in the areas I had skills. Suddenly the woman on the phone was very sweet and apologetic and told me to come immediately in and talk it over and that she could fix me up. She had been caught and she knew it!

By the way anyone who has been told that no jobs are available in person, do what I did! Call on the phone the next day or get someone you know to call and see what they say over the phone. If they tell you no, they really have nothing. If they say yes it's a way for you to catch them in their lie and make them give you a job.

Simple ridicule, supported by no intelligence at all. Just put your fingers in your ears and sing, "La, la, la..." Laughing at something BECAUSE you don't understand it? Bragging about your own ignorance? Why is that a virtue, and why should I be ashamed of using my brain? I don't have those buttons, so I'm not fooled by it. It's just baffling that everyone else falls for it.
Lucy said it in an old "Peanuts" comic strip, "I had to hit him -- he was starting to make sense."
Why would an Aspie do something like that? Because they're still hoping to fit in. It's an Uncle Tom thing. Like the abused child who clings to the very parent who is abusing. Or the adult who can't give up and accept the idea that he will never win the parent's approval.

Daniel, those are things I can do. I just have trouble with the small talk, the eye contact, paying attention to what others say, typcial "NT" stuff. I would be grateful for any zen job that allows me to do physical labor while spacing out.
Your "procrastination" is the result of an instinct that says "this one is probably another dead end, and not worthy of my time."
In this case, your instinct is right. Whatever he's selling is a dead end. He's just a pimp, and a liar. What he doesn't understand is that you would not be able to make money for him, even if you tried. Those schemes are too transparent. No Aspie could make money at a game where every step involves being a fully conscious whore.
The strong get stronger and the weak get weaker.
It's not easy, but if you can figure out what you're good at, it gets better. Locate and celebrate the geek within. It's amazing how good jobs are actually easier than s*** jobs. With a good job, you get more pay, better hours, interesting work and better co-workers. It's actually easier, and your social deficits are LESS of a handicap.
The co-workers, the boss, are so much easier to work with. Of course they're not perfect, but in general they are more likely to be intelligent and enlightened. At worst, they try to fake it. If you have a name-able disability that they understand and they can find a way to make a reasonable accommodation, educated people are more tolerant.
The same amount of disability in you and accommodation from the company in a s*** job doesn't work the same way. The supervisors and co-workers are pigs.
You can see the different on the first day of college. Yes, they are immature, but the worst of the troglodytes were left behind in high school. Most of the time, it's the uneducated who are so small-minded and openly abusive.
Disclaimer: I'm not saying that any individual who has not been to college is automatically a pig. But in general, it works out that way. Chosen fields have self-selected groups, and those self-selected groups dictate the culture. Geeks become engineers. The goodie-two-shoes, teacher's pet becomes an elementary teacher. Rigid people who like to merge and march with the herd join the military. Pigs work in low-paying s*** jobs. If you want to get away from the worst of the pigs, go to college.

Actually, if you want to get the most money go to college. Hate to say it but there are pigs EVERYWHERE and even people who have ten PhDs can be elitist pigs. I do not believe for one minute that education means enlightenment. I have seen many times the most educated people behaving in such a stupid idiotic manner!
More education does mean more money for whoever holds the most degrees. Education means access to more job oppurtunities. The person who has the education benefits the most, not the people around them. I have seen plenty of educated pricks who think they know everything about me but know nothing. I just don't buy that at all.
