"Asperger's is not a disease"
Some days I wish people would just stop calling me broken, soul-less, not really human, ETC, and just let me be me. Maybe I do have something that makes things hard for me, But uphill running is the spice of life. I don't do things 'the easy way', and I've adapted. I'm not ashamed of not wanting to be the prom-queen, or any-social thing like that. If society doesn't to see me, then society doesn't have to look.

you want to cure it?
You bet.
No-one is expected to dislike the way they are.
You need to separate the condition that is Autism from the person it afflicts.
But you seem to be unable to.
Once you've grasped that, you'll understand why its eradication from the genepool by means of gene-therapy would save a great deal of futile suffering.

Then allow me to explain.
Autism is not a personality trait - like for instance, conscientiousness.
IOW, it's a condition - like dyslexia for instance.
It's not a part of you.
It's something that soon, we'll be able to turn on and off.
Once it's turned off, you'll see how much easier life is for you - as a result of your increased functionality ... allowing you to lead a more rewarding, fulfilling and meaningful life.
Like the sound of that ?

hmm, i don't know, it scares me a little.
you know i am quite successful at what i do, and i tend to believe that what i achieved is also thanks to my AS. i am afraid it would have its price.

Trust me, you'll be much more successful in your current field.
But more than that, you'll be able to engage in ALL aspects of life - rather than just looking in from the outside, as an observer.
After AS, it'll be like being on the best holiday of your life - only more so.
You will come to understand the meaning of the word euphoria.
do you think that all aspies are depressed? not happy?
I didnt understand who i was until i found out about AS.
i had a very hard childhood. I was so misunderstood.
I ran away from france, tried to ran away from my past.
I am now confortable with who i am, because i know why i am the way i am. And i love being different, thinking differently than others...
We dont need a cure, we need more understanding people, more tolerance.
If people were more tolerant, i wouldn t have had all the problem i had before.
People bullied me because i didnt wash often, didnt wear the right clothes, loved math, talked about thing that nobody cares, listen to music that nobody listen to, read books that nobody found intersting because too boring.. .etc... I was different, and people couldnt accept it! so, i got beaten, insulted, raped... BUT I DONT CARE! i am who i am!
i dont want to listen to their boring music which means nothing to me, and gives me headache!! !
I dont want to dress like them, because their fabric is itchy and not pratical!
I dont want to read their books!! !
I dont want to wash if i dont want to!! (now i do wash! LOL)
All i am saying is, why do we need a cure???? So we can be like everyone else???
i dont want to be like them!! they are SAD PEOPLE!! ! we are happy, because we live in our own world!! i dont care what people think of me, i am what i am , i am who i am... I had a hard time, but i wouldn't change anything. because it makes me what i am today.

how can you say? two examples: being obsessed with stuff helps to achieve things, being single can also be an advantage in a career.

But you'd achieve MORE in less time, wouldn't be confined by your obsessions - and you'd have the natural and rewarding fulfilment of the love of a good woman and your own family.
What's so terrible about that ?

well i don't think that i would achieve more in less time, but i agree about the love. i think i would gladly achieve less in one place with a woman a my own family around. but there is still time for that. anyway, i agree with ghouna, we would have all of that if the world was more understanding and tolerant. not complaining, though.

obsession are not bad i think. It makes us good in an area. And we need peope good in some area!
Not all aspies are single. I ve been married for 6 years now. It wasnt easy, even now, i have huge problem with organisation. I am a stay at home mum. so i am in charge of the housewrk. I had so many "fights" with my husband about that. because i honestly have no idea how to tidy a room I know i have to do it, but HOW? I now have daily chores list. and my husband makes every morning a little list of things i have to do during the day. I dont mind that, and i feel good, because my husband is helping me.
I dont really mind about that, still i wish i was better at that on my own.
I got married 2 months after i met my husband. When i met him, the first date, i told him "i want to get married, i am not looking for a casual relationship. and he agreed.
SOmetimes i am not very nice when i am talking, sometimes i dont understand him. but i count in my head to relax, then we talk.
I am not good at sharing what i feel, i see my emotion as pictures, not word. So very difficult to explain to him what i feel. But it is ok. i dont want to change that. Not entirely.
We can make life easier, but i dont want to change anything.
AS is not widely recognised yet, that is why sometimes we suffer, but if we are more open about AS, people will be more understanding, and it will be easier.
