Cool, I have autism, left-handedness (I believe) and musical ability.

My ring fingers are about 3 millimetres longer than my index fingers. Well, yeah... if I did measure it correctly... that doesn't seem much.

My mother's side of the family all have about equally long ring and index fingers or a longer index than ring finger.

I once read that the average ratio of index finger:ring finger is .96 for males and 1.00 for females.

Mine are:
Right Hand: 0.94
Left Hand: 0.95

I thought I might be close to 1, well, then not.

This might be interesting too?:

poopylungstuffing,

I think you've been wondering for so long from what I saw and read on the boards here; so can you imagine trying to find a specialist now? Actively trying to pursue it? Would you know where to start?

That is interesting stuff!! However my hands match the first image which confuses me. I wouldn't consider myself as "very feminine" by any means.. and I had to go on clomid to conceive my daughter (but had an excellent pregnancy) and well.. my son was a surprise and had a fairly good pregnancy with him as well. But I do have mild PCOS which did have an affect on my fertility at first. There is no history of breast cancer in my family... and hopefully it just will never happen, if its true that the length of my fingers could indicate a higher chance of it, then I better check myself more regularly... scary thought. But interesting find.

I'm a musically gifted, aspie lesbian. So my ring ringer really should be longer than my index finger. It isn't. My index finger is quite a bit longer. I'm not all that convinced by this finger thing.

nothing is 100%, there always have to be some exceptions in everything. "the exception confirms the rule."

:P

I have left-handedness and musical ability...I am not a lesbian, but that was a little more questionable when I was younger...I was a tad more on the neutral side...now I have long hair and I wear dresses and have boyfriends and whatnot....

All of my (countable on 1 hand) close friends are a tad spectrumy in the very least.

Hmmmm... my ring finger is considerably longer than my pointer finger. By nearly an inch. Interesting. My 'has a lot of spectrummy traits' cousin also has a longer ring finger, but not as significant a gap as mine.

My middle fingers are the longest on both hands. Is this true for most?

I'm left-handed too, and I have "girly" hands. Again, I go against the grain.

Sedaka,

Supposedly, people with autism have manly man hands; this is to do with the "extreme male brain theory of Autism". It's obviously not 100%, or perhaps it's a predictor for one of the causes of autism [that not everyone shares].

What would your fingers look like if you are ambidextrous supposedly?

I gues it could go either way...just the way the digit ratio does not automaticly mean this or that...it just commonly occurs.
