Stress puts me in monologue mode.

fast constant talk

I sometimes talk quickly when stressed with someone in a conversation and I just keep babbling. I hate this kind of reaction.

My speech when stressed tends towards:
--Very formal and precise
--Very little intonation
--Monologue, going back to familiar topics instead of communicating what I meant to get across
--Moderately stressed: Formal, carefully constructed sentences
--Severely stressed: Single words, or sentences with pauses midway through
--Extreme stress: No speech, or very long delays. Thankfully happens only a few times a year.

Compare to communication with low stress level:
--Includes inflection, pitch, and rhythm
--Includes recently-learned casual speech and "filler words"
--Less monologue; more listening
--Can learn or process information by explaining something in words
--Can, to some degree, change manner of speech depending on audience
