If I had 35 million, I'd probably do some selfish things with it. First, I would pay back my existing student loans, then finish up college. I'd buy property back in Texas and put two houses on it. One for my mom, and one for my family. The house for my family would have one floor of just sensory enrichment for each of our sensory needs. I would put $5 mil away for each of my kids in trust funds. I'd buy a car for myself and my husband and they'd both be hybrids.
Let's see... that would cost around $15-20 mil, I think.
So the last $10-15 mil, I would build my dream "full-service" disability center. It would be full encompassing for all people with developmental disabilities. It would be equipped with ST, OT, PTs as well as people trained in ABA, RDI, and floortime therapies. Then also, individual, family and couples therapy for each member of the family with dev. delay. Social skills groups, job training, academic help. Yeah, I think $10-15 mil would get it started up enough. Obviously, though, I couldn't possibly do it for free. There's no way I could keep all the therapists and bills paid for more than a month or two after building the center itself. But as long as I get accredited people, I'm sure I could become covered under any insurance in Texas. And for those I can't, I'd definitely help them find grants so there is no money coming out of their pocket.
