Why wouldn't you want a cure or treatment?
Who i am is who i am and everything leading up to making me who i am from when i was born until i die.
Good necro! This thread had been dead for five years!
And in that time, the "cure or not" issue has become totally irrelevant!
How is it irrelevant? If you mean it's dead because it's been talked about too much I agree but if that's not what you meant I'm clueless.
Did something happen that I don't know about? Has it been scientifically proven that a cure is impossible? Has a cure come out? How is the hypothetical question irrelevant if it can still happen but hasn't?
What has made the subject irrelevant?
If I were NT I'd want to be able change my brain to give myself AS just as much as I want to change my brain to be NT.
It's not about what's better it's curiosity. I'd like to be able to know both ways and I hate being forced to be the same person my whole life. It sucks that I'm so limited to a single perspective. If a cure would change who I am I'd want that because I wish I could be several different people at different times throughout my life.
This topic is more interesting for me as a broader question of identity so even though it's been discussed already to the point of being dead it still seems like it hasn't been explored as something concerning more than just Autism.
Autism aside, if something could change your identity, who you are, how your brain works, and your entire personality, would you want it? I would.
