I used to have all these extravagent goals....traveling around the world, having some high-level career, a nice car, contribute my talents to society and live a big house in the suburbs with a husband, two kids and a dog. Nowadays, I just want to make it to the next week. I don't care anymore about becoming "successful" because everytime I get remotely close to some financial stability, Bam! The proverbial rug is pulled from under me.
So the heck with all of it! I just want to be able to pay my bills, eat and have my computer.
*Of course I have bigger goals but I'm a little frustrated at the moment.

So that means you don't really have to set any new goals? Because you are setting that you have to always have a goal. And that is a goal. So you will always have a goal in life no matter what.

Making you all realize that the standards of civilization are not the path to happiness.
Live with yourself, love yourself, know yourself. Without these how can you possibly achieve harmony with another.
A career, money and security! To what end? Make enough to be satisfied, work where you can exhibit your ability. Thanks to government, there is no security, so don't dwell on it just live.
AND FINALLY,
Social Acceptance. You have obviously been brainwashed. Take a good look around. Does it make sense? I will lay odds that if we are ever accepted by the majority, then we are finally learning how to make believe, play act. And your worse off for it.
Others need to see us and our pursuit of the truth and wish that they could be more like us.
Bottom line: You are right, they are wrong, end of discussion.

A bit ironic that you accuse us of being brainwashed and then tell us we should know ourselves, SB2. Why should we accept that you know more about our deepest desires than we do?
I wanted a successful career because I like to feel productive and feel like I'm contributing to something beautiful (I'm an artist). I wanted financial stability so that I'm free to pursue my own goals without being held back by dependence on others or worry about the basics of life. These just happen to coincide with conventional standards of civilization.
And it's a fact of biology that a desire for companionship is hardwired into most (not all) human beings. Certainly playacting is unhealthy, but so is festering in loneliness because one has convinced oneself that it's better that way to shield from a lifetime of rejection. And it's necessary to learn how to get along with humans to a certain degree in order to fulfil other desires. (I quite like being part of a society with good medical care, so I'm not going to do things that will cause doctors to refuse to help me.)
I apologize for coming off the way i did. it was not my desired intent. And i submit to you that i make no claim on understanding your or anybody else's particular bias and prujudice , since i cannot understand you since i am not you.
It seems to me that people are conditioned into need. Wanting what they don't have. What everybody does have is themselves. And having that is the greatest acquisition of all. Problem is, many people aren't happy about it. I argue that if you want a relationship then be honest with yourself. Ask yourself, "is it because i'm supposed to?" If you can truthfully argue that you do for the reasions acceptable to yourself, then you must first be content with yourself.
If you cannot live with who you are and know and love yourself, then what do you have to offer to another. That's a general statement, for certain, but it holds many truths in relationships.
I am not an expert. I am fortunate in the fact that i have a wife who is patient and has a great sense of humor. And two perfect daughters aged 6 & 8. Its overwhelming often. My 8 year old is my personality mirror image. God bless my parents, they survived me.
Relations are great, confidence in who you are is not fleeting. And the confidence i have, have always had is most of my present day fortune. Without having first learned to believe in myself, i would likely be wishing i had something that i didn't already have. As i breath, my life is pretty damn complete, considering how it ought to be.
To thine own self, be true>>>

Since late high school, I think, I've wanted to learn how to fly my own mind. So what I'm currently aiming for is to take the reins and learn how to fly my own mind by actually doing it. I came on here envying the rare gifts you Aspies have, but I'm starting to see potential in my own neuropsychology. I can use the flexibility that allows other NTs to follow the latest trends and instantaneously adapt their behavior, for instance, to re-spark scenarios in my mind to restore the psychological momentum that so easily dissipates, using one of my neurological abilities to compensate for a neurological deficit. I can use fantasy strategically to support my own happiness, instead seeking happiness in other people's fantasies to let those people use me - amusing myself with the figurative kind of "spin" that NTs are known to be obsessed with.
So...off to the imaginary airport...

My goals, both short term and long term, inlcude:
1. Writing as much as I possibly can, and hopefully getting some work published
2. Finding a better, well-paying job that I can support myself with
3. Finding a car
4. Moving in with Serissa if we can find a bigger apartment
5. To know God better
6. To never stop learning
But sadly, I'm not coming along well on any of these goals.

I want to stay motivated and get good grades from college. I want to come out of it with good memories, having had a positive experience, and hopefully with the right situation to get to university and then manage to cope with that.
Ultimately, I want to end up in a job that I like doing, working with people that I don't mind having to face every day.
For the most part, I just want to be happy.
I wish the best of all possible outcomes for all you young people. I wish my wishes had the potency to assist others.
I am on the other end of the scale. One goal would be to be able to remember the things I did accomplish.
For the future, my goals would be to teach my granddaughters how to skate and to have one poem of mine remembered after I am gone.

Heres one. Get alot more confindence in meeting new people. I have a very strong fear of meeting people when im not with some one I don't already know. Im pretty much social Phobic and since I moved towns from a town where i knew lots of people to one where I don't know any body im having alittle bit of trouble getting my self out there. One of the reasons why I have spent so much time in the WP chat lately.

1.)
Show me the hottest girl in the world, and i'll show you a guy who's tired of making love to her!
Seriously, there's nothing wrong with wanting a Babe. But you will get bored. I can think of many more tedious actions which are much worse than that.
2.)
Did people in your old town like you? Did you have friends?
You have to assume that you have alot to offer to anybody willing to make the investment. Anybody not willing is likely to be superficial and an equal waste of your time.
People are people wherever you go. If people showed appreciation for what you bring to the table at point A, then they also will at point B.
People are afraid of you too. No-one wants to be rejected, but such is life, what can you do. The only thing to do is to dig deep tap into that immense inner drive you have and refuse to give-up. Only people that fail are the ones who don't try. Even if your rejected 100 times at least you have some food for thought to bring to you next encounter. Trial and error is the only way to learn. Just be honest with yourself about your boundries. Don't give people what they want, give them who you ARE. The reason for this is so basic. What happens if the relationship grows under a false act. Do you reasonably expect the relationship to last forever? NO. Because once you get comfortable in the relationship you will invariably let down your guard (act) and the relationship built upon lies will come crashing down. Guaranteed.
Be patient, be yourself, never give up. The race of life is a long one, slow and steady always wins out

Um I just don't talk to people I don't know. Unless I get to know them over a while. I can talk to new people when I have some one I already can talk to next to me.
I just don't talk. Would you honestly give that much effort to a person who has a angery look on there face and won't talk to you the effort to get to know them?> I don't think so. I think this is my problem and theres no point in siting back expecting things to change cause they won't with out effort. Being afraid of meeting people with out the surport of some on I know around is some thing I will have to get over. Getting to the point where I have some one there for suport is some thing I need to do to.
Yes I knew people. Did they like me? most of them didn't because they never got to know me past my silence and my angery look. But I still had alot of friends that did know me. I had just started a relationship with some one before I moved.
