Just did a google, to see how widespread this is. Interesting results. This one was, anyway.

Things like these are fun - it's always amazing to see how far over the top someone can go. There are a few "can see it from the space shuttle" houses in our neighborhood, and someone tried to do a scaled-down version of this sort of thing (see video). We watched it go through some Christmas Carols and were driving off when the lights went insane and they started broadcasting Pink Floyd!

I bet their neighbors hate them.

That would shock and amaze me, and after a while, I'd start to feel sick from all the lights and darkness.

Actually, I really like that! The lawn is a bit confusing but the house is really neatly done. What I'm talking about are the guys that have like.. a droopy blue icicle style string acrossmost of house and then a string of white icicles at the end... disorganized and irritating. But that could be considered 'Colors spread out wherever' so that's why I did not vote in that category.

I will never bother with Christmas lights unless my future wife requires it.

I stared at one multicolored tree for hours yesterday. Didn't realize I liked it that much...

I was actually just talking to my psychiatrist about this. I have light sensitivites but I like the multi colored Christmas lights. When the lights are all one color it tends to be somewhat painful to look at.

I can only watch them for just a little while, then I have to move somewhere quiet to recoup. But I do enjoy 'em while I can!

In the evenings on weekends at this time of year my daughter and I get in the car and go get some good hot chocolate, and then we go out "light hunting" to see what we can find. There is one sub-division about 5 miles away from us where every single house in the place has done up something - from just a small tree in the yard to moving displays of Santa riding in a UFO - and it's quite amazing. The lines of cars going through make it take about an hour, but it's not something you get to see every day. The little kids are just amazed - I love to watch their faces and miss the days when my daughter was young.

For me, the more colors, the better.

There's actually this one neighborhood not too far from me where every single house goes all out with the Christmas decorations. It's really cool driving through there when it's all snowy.

My answer to that: Viva Pinata: every autistic kid's dream.

I love lights, all colors all kinds, I have strands of Christmas lights up in the bedroom year round, fiber optic lamps, lava lamps.

Spinning, flashing, blinking...stand me in front of them...come back an hour later I'll still be there watching them.

Lights, shiny stuff, & chocolate...my major distractions in life.

I <3 shiny, bright, glowing, etc, stuff. Viva Pinata is my favourite western cartoon, simply because of all the bright colours, stories themselves are too modern "let's have a non-violent solution for everything" rather than the classic bugs bunny and tweety show humour.

The only problem I have with Christmas light are blue leds, and I hate my dad's love of them. The blue leds actually cause undesirable overload, and make me feel sick. I describe it to other people who can't understand that as "they make my field of vision seem wrong" even tho thats not what it is, they seem to get that idea better.

I can relate. An over abundance of white lights makes me feel ill. I voted for solid colors (blue or red). They seem mellow, cohesive and not too much going on.

I did not expect a lot of these responses thus far, but I like reading them.

What about big lights versus small lights in Christmas lighting. You know how you can buy the mini ones or these large ones that look like the ones Chevy Chase used in that movie?
