I admit that if I'm not in a hurry I click on the girl profiles (where you can actually figure that out as it's sometimes hard) hoping to find a link to their naked pictures. So far I've only found one but I'll keep checking anyway.

What is a "stupid looking avatar"?

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

I am more likely to look at a profile after they say a few intelligent things.

I have looked at three so far.

Every once in a while. For instance, if I am going to refer to a poster using a pronoun, I'll check their gender. Very rarely though.

Yes, I often look at the persons profile. I try to stop doing that though-- others probably would find it a bit creepy, I'm guessing.

I was kidding of course but I bet there were a lot of the girls having their profiles checked just recently.

Only if the profile contains information that is relevant to the topic, which means hardly ever in my case, at least.

The only time I ever check a profile is if the subject of a thread looks like it might have been posted by a troll. If I don't recognize the name I'll go to the persons profile to see if they have a lot of posts or not--typically trolls don't make it long enough to have many posts. I don't like to read troll threads, because they're often insulting.

Otherwise, no. That seems too much time and effort. I just reply.

Often an insight into a person's character and beliefs can be found by looking at their profile and/or previous posts. Usually this happens AFTER a lengthy debate. Its interesting how often age or lack thereof can be either a surprise or a confirmation of an opinion.

This is just another one of my stupid questions but I'm curious if people sometimes looks at a posters profile before answering to a thread or an individual post.

Occasionally. Sometimes if I am wondering about a person's motive or POV I'll go there. But given that the options I was given to sign up under didn't include my actual situation, I've got a "questionable" flag attached to such info. Plus they are filled out unevenly and it's kinda a PITA to check everyone's (it'd be nice if you could mouse over). Mostly I find a lot more detailed info buried within the posts themselves, and when that's causing me to go "hrmmm" I then check the profile.

Sometimes I do. More often I don't and then wish I had. It can help sometimes get a better picture of where the person is asking a question from. And sometimes a person sounds interesting enough to pm.

Is my avatar stupid?

I don't really care if it is, as the avatar doen't mean a lot to me....wait... yes it does mean a lot to me and even represents who I am on a non symbolic level. This image was made by fooling around with a program at school 4 years back, and I have come to use it to represent me wherever I can be represented with an image.

On a side note, I'm curious, what do people think of it anyways?

No, and for the same reason that I never read the Preface to a book. I want to find out on my own what someone or something is about. I think it's an Aspie thing. :)
