Good movies for an aspie?
Blade Runner is my ultimate Aspie movie. There's a lot of alienation in the setting, and characters... but then towards the end it swaps this bleakness for something more gothic and romantic. Hopeful but with no trite Hollywood optimism.
It contains characters who question their own identity and choose to pretend in order to get by in a human world.
I can only recommend the Final Cut version, and the director says its what he wanted back in 1982. The High Definition release of this is spectacular, especially for a movie from before the computer animation era.
Also, Stanley Kubrick productions from 2001:A Space Odyssey onward, preferably enjoyed in a setting as close to a large cinema as possible. Kubrick was almost certainly someone with AS, his later movies are portrayed with this rare perspective. (especially The Shining, Full Metal Jacket).
Or if you want something less weighty, the original Planet of the Apes will hit you over the head with a styrofoam hammer that reads "racism hurts everyone" for most of its running time. Despite this it is 100% earnest, honest and every actor pulls off the best performance of their lives.
Smilla's Sense of snow : A good aspie woman movie. The main character, while she may or may not be aspie, she has very aspie like thinking, I think. She is gorgeous too.
Also American Splendour. A great aspie movie.
I also liked "Life is Beautiful" though it is not an aspie movie.
did you read the book? she comes off much more aspie there. it's a great book btw, I read it like 5 times. much better ending than in the film.

Definitely. Before Nash shows psychotic symptoms, he appears to be utterly Aspie. That's why the graduate school scenes are my favorite.

I like a whole lot of movies listed on this thread...basically, I guess you could say I really like a lot of the classics, especially cult stuff, artsy stuff...anything with really great directing, really great cinematography, a really great script, really great sound work, amazing special effects (practical effects, not CGI), etc. is going to get bonus points with me.
And I love comedies too =D Especially anything with stupid or offbeat humor...or unintentionally funny movies, like B-movies. Love low-budget movies, and I don't know why...maybe I just like to see how much they can accomplish with as little money as possible...maybe it just feels to me like something I could make myself. Sometimes I like to watch foreign films, but I don't get the opportunity very often.
All these remakes and "just-okay" movies coming out these days don't really excite me that much, if at all, so Idunno if that's really an aspie thing.
Not to mention the whole interplay between Pris and J.F. Sebastian. After I read that Daryl Hannah is "borderline autistic", I watched it again and I believe it. That probably helps explain why they're my favorite characters in the movie.
Also, when Pris runs away from J.F. and puts her hand through a cab window, Daryl accidentally did that for real, with real glass, messed up her hand a little bit
