I believe NTs have minimal anxiety around people.

I meant to say that they have minimal anxiety that does not hinder them.

Reducing anxiety is the key to being able to socialise.

That's true KevinLA, and I think one of the main ways they do this is thru communication. I am a quiet person and not much of a communicator and am way too cynical now after a long series of trials and errors I am pretty content with introspection and my own company, but I have always watched how others interact and am fascinated by it. I try to figure out intellectually why they do what they do. At one time I tried doing what they did but failed miserably at getting the same results so I found other ways to reduce my anxiety.
NTs like to talk away their stress and anxiety and how they go about doing it determines if they are successful at reducing it.

Imagine that I have no "social anxiety" but I am interested in issues very different from other people; I will having also problems in socializing.

Or a "deep thinker" type, the kind of person who his natural reaction about everithing is to over-analiyse these thing - these kind of people will have also socialization problems, because will have much difficult in sustaining a real time conversation (even without anxiety).

Much probably, almost all people with socialization problems will have also high social anxiety, but I think that the causal relation is not necessarly "anxiety ---» social difficulties"; much times it is the opposite.

OK. I am "NT" in the sense I don't have autism (starting to think I am on the spectrum lately). Anyways, I started to have anxiety in grade three. I never could enter the cafeteria throughout my entire highschool 9 - 12th. I would just walk the hallways the whole time or hang out in the library. I seem like I am social but I fake it really really well. I act the whole time, always. I am so bad that I will have anxiety for two days before a social event like a dinner party. It's bad.

NT's may just seem better at hiding it but they are out there/

No. I don't have social anxiety. I had some in high school, and I got over it. I'm still socially ret*d. I'm sure you'd find dozens of other people on this forum who could say something very similar. Knowing how to socialise, and being able to put that knowledge into practice, is the key to being able to socialise.

There are a lot of NT's who suffer from social anxiety, general anxiety, etc. I'm in a social anxiety group (online) & 99% of the people in there are NT's & they have problems dealing with social situations.

Though, like I've seen some people say on this site before.... just the fact that they have social anxiety, by definition, means that they are not NT's.

Something of note, I don't feel anxiety around people; I tend to feel overwhelmed due to sensory issues (people talking, moving and stuff, it hurts my eyes and ears), but not fear.

Around people, I just don't know what to do with them.
