I used to have trouble sleeping, so I would often find myself up in the middle of the night. I lived near a busy street and during the day and early evening, I'd hear cars going by but late night they weren't there, which lead to a certain idea I became fixated on.

At night, all the world was asleep except for me. Those who hurt me were sleeping, so they couldn't hurt me. Those who interefered in everything I did were asleep, so they couldn't interfere. It was almost like for a brief time, the world was mine. Without my tormentors, I could actually be at peace, if only for a little while.

The real paradox of it all was even though I had those ideas, I knew others were awake, as I'd sometimes hit the AOL chatrooms and find people there to talk to. Or sometimes I'd put the TV on for company and usually find Dionne Warwick pushing Psychic Friends Network.

I was in pretty bad emotional shape back then I guess.

I don't like getting up early. Is that the same thing? I mean, any time before noon is early. Typically I'm going to sleep around 4 or 5 AM. I'm pretty nocturnal I guess.

Christmas is a complete nightmare for me. I'm expected to conform to the rest of the relatives' waking pattern - they're up at 7 AM and in bed by 11 PM. Though if they sacrifice another tree for christmas next near I'll have an excuse to not go.

Haven't youlready posted this? :?

I love staying up late. I stay up till 2-3 AM and then go to bed and get up at noon. But if I have to get up early, I go to bed early. Only time I go to bed earlier for no reason at all is if I'm tired.

I used to LOVE getting up early for Christmas when I was younger. Like any other kid. But now I'm glad that my mother won't let us be up at dawn demanding pressies, I get to sleep a bit longer.

Kinda ironic that parents force kids to get out of bed early for school everyday, but on Christmas Day we get our revenge by doing the same to them!

I stay up until about 2:00 AM or so on week-days.

On week-ends I go to bed at 3:00 AM - 4:00 AM.

The week-days are mostly due to comuputer usage, and the week-ends are mostly due to my love of anime on Adult Swim.

There's good evolutionary reasons why autistics should be "night owls", but no excuse for using silly names!

LOL

I remember when I was 12 I got up early and was very excited I ran in my parents' bedroom and shouted "It's Christmas" and my mother shot up in bed and said "Woo" because I had startled her. I had always woken up early on Christmas days. My eternal clock goes off early for some reason and I am wide awake. When I was real little, it didn't make a difference because I woke up at the same time every day because I didn't know my 12 months nor knew it was Christmas day until I see more presents under the tree. I would be up and so would my parents and they take me to the living room and there be presents under there. Then they would put a dress on me before we start opening.

Yes I like to stay up late and I will do so every night that I can. Its quieter at night and less stimulation to over-load me. I think if you did a poll a great many people would be night owls here IMO.

I love night. There's no one else awake and it feels like I'm living alone. At weekends I sometimes stay up as late as 7 AM and on weekends it varies a lot. Usually anything from 11 PM(early) to 3 PM(had a lot of caffeine, usually this happens shortly after the weekends).
I always prefer the night to day.
BTW, I don't have crap parents, just rather naive ones...(they think I go to bed at 10 PM).

I work second shift now so I'm at work from 4:00 pm to midnight. I usually go to bed about 3:30 - 4:00 am

Night is quiet, cool, still, calm and dark. I prefer to sleep during the day.

Depends. Some night I go to bed at 11pm, 12am and sometimes I don't go to bed until 4am. Lately it's been after 12am, because I get caught up with my special interests.

Always been a night person. Even when I was tiny, I liked to stay up later than anyone else my age. Sometimes later than anyone else in the house. No amount of school or work has beaten that quality out of me yet.

It also helps that night is dark, since I have pretty bad light sensitivities and sunlight hurts pretty badly. Much prefer to be out and about when I can see comfortably.

It's high time that the world stopped forcing everyone to live like farmers, when most work is no longer dependent on sunlight. My "modest proposal" that almost everyone who's not a night person seems to balk at even if I'm joking is that we have a "National Night Person's Month" where the day begins at noon and ends at 2 or 3 in the morning and see if the morning people really can just decide when to wake up and fall asleep as easily as they think we can do it. Maybe then there could be more variation in times that work and school started. Seriously, there's no reason why most things couldn't be done at midnight just as well as they could be done at 8am.
