Some of my smiles look bad so I refuse to post them online or really show them unless I want everyone to see how ret*d I can really look.

It looks like you are trying tohide your teeth... It also makes your face look like a pig's, not in a bad way though.

I understand it feels awkward, ( I know because I didn't used to smile in pictures), but try and get used to it. Try and be a LITTLE neurotypical. Have a happy attitude.

You know it isn't an aspergers thing. Nor is Smiling a sole NT thing.

This is my opinion of your stupid thread:

It isn't really your place to tell people what they should be doing. It's a free country. Also btw I don't smile in pics because I think I look hideous when I do

The smiling picture looks almost exactly like my sister when she bleached her hair... Although I am sure you are not a messed in the head as she is...

There are few species in the animal kingdom where smiling is considered anything but a threat.

I react to them the same way. They make me uncomfortably aware that you might want to rip my throat out.

I don't smile... unless I'n getting ready to get really unpleasant.

I like my non-smiling face better.

Very nice pic, of course I can tell that the smiling pic is forced, but it still looks nicer than the neutral blah pic. The non-smiling pic has the expression I have on my face most of the time. My forced smiles look like crap... But my genuine smiles, when they happen, which is usually from a thought that I am really enjoying, look amazing... or at least they feel amazing... I think it must be weird to see me with a really big smile on my face, as I normally dont smile...

I will say I like the feeling I get when I have the biggest smile on my face, it is an amazing feeling that makes the happyness I already have that much better... My parents generally think I have some sick idea going through my head when I smile as I generally do it around them when they are giving me hell for something, and they say something, and I just can't help but think about what they said as it seems very funny with me and the smile is from trying not to laugh. Why it seems funny is I can see a picture of it in my head and it just excites my weird sense of humor.

EDIT: You really don't look dernaged.

I never mastered the posed camera smile either. I either managed a small tight lipped smile, or I just look really strange trying. The only exception is if I am caught mid-laugh or mid-sentence, and my teeth happen to be showing when the flash went off:

Hard to get pictures like that to come out right though.

LOL, strange.. whatever! You're gorgeous.

I agree, NICE picture!

It is a nice picture, it looks like you are really enjoying the dog's company.

I don't know exactly what you mean by cheeky, but the smile looks real, and it looks good.

i "smile" to please everyone on pics, but i have gotten good at adding a slight retardedness in my face, like flare my nostrils a little, or make a talk-mouth, like... have the mouth of "YYY" at the moment of photography.

people dont notice while taking the picture, so its all good. for me.

my "mickey mouse" smile, excuse the hair.

This picture is probably the photo with the most genuine smile I have in a photo...

I don't know how well you can see my smiles in those...

LOL I do agree, I have a very hard time at smiling or looking happy. In fact most people think I look angry.

This was the best I could do...I really don't have many pics of me smiling.

I'm wondering if having a blank look and a smile that isn't too expressive is the norm with AS because I have both of these traits too.

You look like you might be content, but it is really just a blank stare, reminds me of me sitting at my computer, cept I have my mouth open for because I don't get quite enough air through my nose...
