I am extremely proud of you Cotton. I wish other kids who have Autistic brothers and sisters would be like you and come here to learn. You are a great brother.

you can't wear your feeling on your sleeve he can be brutally honest in what he thinks. I didn't think he would just start talking I thought it would take a lot of work it was like he got up one morning and thought I have alot to say and I'm saying it. He takes alot of time to say a sentence.but he gets it out point blake not sure how to explain it
I think the trips to the ranch are what really helped him to open up and start to talk. Some Autistic kids just take a long time to talk but when they do start to talk they start from a very high level. It's not like a baby who just starts with one or two words and slowly builds up. These Autistic kids have been studying the language for years by hearing what others say and when they are ready to talk, they just start talking. I think going to the ranch gave him an opportunity to really relax and enjoy himself and even build some self esteem and when he started talking about the tractors and you guys enjoyed that, that helped build his confidence in being able to express himself verbally. I think the ranch is a really special place and you guys should spend as much time as you can there.

He can talk, he doesn't answer questions,my stepdad bought five acres that have the same fence line as the ranch and said we are going to build a house on it I think it is kind of dumb he won't live in our old house but it is better than the town I guess except for the skate park being so close

It makes sense in a way. Your dad was obviously a special person and they want to respect his memory. It will be difficult for your mum having a new relationship after your dad. She will have been scarred by losing the person she loved. Finding a way to move on with her life but still respect the person that was special for her is important.

I know it is just, I miss my old house and the only people my mom and real dad ever dated was each other they started in middle school.so I guess I get it
Oh ok. I thought JD was nonverbal before. It's great that you guys now have an additional five acres on the property. I understand your stepdad's reasons for wanting his own house. I can respect that even though it might seem kind of "dumb" as you would say in your perspective. It seems inefficient but it's ok because your step dad does not feel good about taking a space that was private and special to your biological dad and your mom. And that is very respectable. I am sure that in time they might use the original house for other things. You might even choose to live there eventually. You will be 18 in five years. Maybe you can keep some of your stuff in your old room there out of JD's reach.
But it's really good that you will be at the ranch. And you now have five acres that you can use to build a skate park. When my husband was a kid he and his friends built a BMX track in the woods all by themselves. I think he was 15. But if you guys are going to build a house, maybe there will be some flexible wooden plyboards that you can use. There are lots of kids in my area that have built their own jumps in ramps in their back yards.

JD only said Tractor till like 4 days ago he got out of bed and came in the living room and told mom "you fix breakfast" Then told me "cool you eat put socks shoe on we go to ranch" walked out of the room he got dressed and came back and said "do it know" and went and sat at the table to eat He calls me cool I don't think he can say colton. Mom was so shocked she calied my stepdad then we went to the ranch. Now he talks a lot
I love that story. That is incredible. And that kind of thing happens quite a bit with Autistic kids. Once you find the one thing that makes them truly connect, they just start talking. Sounds like the ranch is his special place. That is really cool. I bet your real dad loves that story too. I also think it's adorable that he calls you Cool. I did not know your name was actually Cotton. That is a really cute name.

He is kind of bossy the hard part is he gets like 10 inches from your face when he talks to you He looks down will not look you in the eye but 10 inches away and if he has something to say he just makes you stop what you're doing getting that close hope that part changes soon I'm scared to say anything because he may stop talking
