I got 31/36. The multiple choice made it rather easy. (It was quite easy to cheat on this test, and use process of elimination.) But I suppose it would have been impossible if it were open response, due to there being such a wide variety of emotions. One would have no idea where to start. Still, I encourage all of you to attempt reading the expressions without looking at the multiple choice answers; you will find, I believe, that it is much more difficult.
But I digress...
31/36 is truthfully lower than I would have expected for myself... I would have thought that I'd have taught myself all of these expressions by now. I would like to see this test given to a small child and see how they fare. Small children generally have an untainted mind, so we would be able to see if they have a natural ability to read emotions via eyes and eyebrows. Or is reading eye expressions learned by everyone? Is it just a matter of experience?
For some of them, I didn't read the eye expressions. I looked at the camera angles, makeup, etc. For the one where the correct answer was desire, I thought of all those pictures with women wearing smoky eyeshadow, angling their heads away from the camera but moving their eyes to look directly at it.
Oh, I have a question: Were all the female faces the same person?
