More about my situation.
Re: My 7 questions.
1. Santa Cruz: US Health & Human Services Dept. 169 Walnut Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 (831) 426-8111 http://www.santacruzhumanservices.org/
2. Obamaphone: All you need is a food stamp card which you can get from H&HS. Here's the link to Safelink Wireless. https://www.safelinkca.com/TracFoneWeb/en/index2.html#/
3. Bank account? Santa Cruz Community Credit Union costs $5 to open a savings account. http://www.scccu.org/personal/savings/savings-account/
4. How many pictures of your brother are you talking about? Pictures can be digitized and emailed to you. If not, since you don't want money from anyone, you can have the owners of the pictures mail them to you if it's just a few pictures. Boxes of pictures, of course, would mean you getting a storage bin in Santa Cruz. Here's the link to Extra Space Storage in Santa Cruz. They charge $51 and up. https://www.extraspace.com/Storage/Faci ... =org::maps
5. What would the cost be to ship those to the continental US? Since you'll pay, this is a moot point.
6. Are you working on reducing your weight? I was waiting to read about you walking or doing small exercises in a city park somewhere. Here's a popluar, scenic park in Santa Cruza. It reminds me of Green Lake in Seattle. http://www.cityofsantacruz.com/governme ... tlake-park
7. Social Services/Human Services. Here are a few other places in Santa Cruz that help old folks get it together.

http://www.sccoanogales.com/ - Santa Cruz Council On Aging
http://www.advocacy-inc.org/programs/ombudsman-program/ - Santa Cruz Ombudsman Program for the Aged.

Part of ASS-P's weight problem is caused by water retention because of COPD. He's also missing lots of toes because of diabetes, which makes walking difficult. He probably DOES need a wheelchair.
It is weird that he can't make calls using his Obamaphone.
It was nice of Red Robin to do all that research. I hope ASS-P follows up.
He just got one or more toes amputated; that's why he's at the rehab place. He's been there for a few months. The fact that he's still there indicates, in my opinion, that they consider his case serious.
He should try to get an apartment for people with chronic diseases, and bite the bullet about giving half his benefits to the place. A place where he is free to come and goes without scrutiny.
As far as the Obamaphone is concerned: ASS-P already has one? In any case, if he wants a smart phone, all he has to do is buy this prepaid Alcatel one touch trac phone from Amazon for $25. Trac phone is already affiliated with Safelink. He'd just have to call and tell them to switch his phone # over to the Alcatel. https://www.amazon.com/Alcatel-OneTouch ... ch+prepaid
As far as the laptop is concerned: There's a store in Santa Cruz that recycles and sells refurbished computers real cheap. Here's the link: http://pleasurepointcomputers.homestead ... vices.html
Again, ASS-P says he gets SSDI, so he could definitely afford an Alcatel and a used computer. I did, and I'm on SSDI.
If he really gets NO MONEY at all, not even food stamps, then I have a smartphone and computer I'm not using. Here's the phone: https://www.amazon.com/HOMTOM-HT16-Andr ... words=ht16
And here's the laptop: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-C201PA-DS02 ... c201p+asus

There's a certain thread to ASS-P's lingua franca which confuses me. To wit: his issues with getting to places even though he has SSDI money on hand. There are:
1. Santa Cruz Metro. https://www.scmtd.com/en/routes/schedules
2. Seniors and Accessible Regional Transport Commission. https://sccrtc.org/services/accessible-transportation/
3. Access Santa Cruz County: Resource Guide for People with Special Needs and Physical Challenges. http://www.scaccessguide.com/transportation.htm

I think he said it's his congestive heart failure that's causing water weight. He said he's around 70 lbs overweight @ 240 lbs (depending on his hight) plus another 30 lbs water weight. Copd (emphysema) affects breathing, people get it from somoking. Also ype 2 diabetes is usually caused by being overweight.
My great aunt who was overweight has chf and had type 2 diabetes. She had to be put into a nursing home last year and she doesn't have added stuff like copd and kidney failure.
By being on the diet of what the nursing home feeds her, she has lost a lot of weight, including water weight that was swelling her legs badly and her diabetes went into remission.
When she was put into a low cost nursing home, all of her stuff was liquidated. Belongings, mementos and meomorbila. Her life now is being in the nursing home 24/7 and she shares a room. She days it cost her every cent she had for the place. My grandfather said when his time comes, he'd like to be placed in that facilty.
If this guy is getting free nursing home care, he's got a good deal going. My aunt lived by herself for like 30 years, was a horder and very independent. But the time came when she was no longer able to live independently and she had to kiss her old life goodbye. And I think she's in a lot better shape than ASS-P.

...The phone I am working this on is a private phone, not an Obama.
Goldfish really exposed himself as a sleaze, going " I didn't help you because you weren't ' happy, happy, joy joy ' enough " With my crippled-ness and the place's pressure, it us hard to go out!
I have repeatedly tried to get a charge card - I'll see about the other things Red Robin says.
As I said, the phone function here dies not work!
Yes - it would helo to have a little transportation/connection help - I've never, really, had any

Sir I think like with my aunt your going out days are over with. I don't think at this point having a bank card would matter. I think you're going to have to face being restricted to a care facility from now on.
...If someone could help me with getting around and making connections, that would be nice.
As far as any attempt to go to college would go - That would very much be on the back burner now. Even if I started gung ho-ly trying ti-dat, it would take no
any months before things could happen. Help with trying to find d that storage and get important things lined up would help SO MUCH - Obviously, from someone who contacted me off-line and found out what my name was

...Well, that's how you feel, I don't agree.
You disliked the idea of me having help in the first place, so it's hardly a surprise you put he idea of me having it down

No quite the opposite. I think you need full time assistance.
What I have a problem with is what looks like you trying to guilt-trip manipulate an autistic WP member to move to Santa Cruz and take care of you.
You are in a care facility and you are being looked after. That's your help. And the only help you actually need. They are pressuring you to stay put because by your own admission you are in severely poor health as in basically terminally ill.
I stand corrected. It is CHF that's causing the water retention. I had just gotten up from a long sleep.
ASS-P is not "terminal." He just needs care for now. It's the diabetes that he should really take care of. Many people live for YEARS with COPD and CHF. Diabetes really screws with you, though.
I also believe ASS-P has to sort of say that "the past is the past." I understand that's difficult--but the past is eating him up, too.
His goal should be a senior apartment with care within the complex. Sort of like assisted living, but not as drastic as that.
I forgot to ask: do you get kidney dialysis, ASS-P? I'm thinking you might be eligible for more things because you get dialysis. It's also absolutely free. It cannot be denied to you.

redrobin62 already posted info for you that should help get you around Santa Cruz.

I found a post he made in march 2016 saying that he had already been given a one year life expectancy. I love your optimism, but I think you are being unrealistic. I think he's likely to get worse at this point (maybe stabilized) rather than get better. I also think if he's out on his own again he's going to consume junk food and continue to escalate his weight, diabetes and chf problems further.

Oh, I definetely agree with what you say here. The care facility would be the best for him. It's three hots and a cot and whatever there else is there to do there. If he can procure some books then he can read.
