How do you score on this Simon Baron-Cohen test?

I eventually found what was obviously the ssq answers file, but it was in a format that I couldn't read. Lot's of weird characters all over and that kind of thing. Hmm. Oh well.

I scored 12. Most of the things that the answer key said were blatantly offensive seemed to me like things that might possibly offend someone, but only if they were unreasonable and very easily offended.

I thought I'd get more, I felt pretty confident except for 1 or 2 questions especially question 5, that one was hard. But then I realised I missed loads, I'm thinking "but that's just a normal, poilte conversation!"

I got an 8. Honestly, I don't think this would be easy for anyone tho. What people find offensive is pretty subjective in my opinion too.

Still scoring. But . . . I don't understand what was wrong in 1 A. That seems perfectly innocuous.

I got a 12. I'm not sure what was wrong with some of those. I'm also not sure what WASN'T wrong with a few that I said someone might be upset by but it didn't say to deduct points for false positives.

I found almost every section to include something that "could have upset someone," sometimes more than one line. I got most of the answers, but I also found a lot more that were not on the sheet. So I am at a loss as to how to score it.

A couple of points: there is a UK-cultural bias. e.g. in one of them, understanding the acronym "O.A.P." is crucial. Non-UK residents may not know this acronym.

Also, I thought that written text for such a purpose is totally clunky and the stories scream out to be filmed as videos. Surely, in the 21st century, Mr Baron-Cohen and his University have the resources to produce some short videos?

It is the same with the blurry black and white photos they use for face and emotion recognition tests. In real life, we do not get to stare at a face for 3 minutes while choosing from a list of four available emotions! In an age when millions are camcording/videoing themselves as the cost is so low, it is appalling that these tests are so archaically presented.
